Divorce is not some infectious disease that you can catch. Divorced people are not second class citizens in Gods kingdom, (not to Him anyway

Well these are two things. On the second I agree. On the first, while not literally a virus...you betcha its catching and spreads. Ive seen it, and read about it. When one "girlfriend" gets a divorce, several consider it, they watch with keen interest how it goes, how "happy" the new free one is. And they come in groups, 2, 3, 4 divorces in extended friend groups. Im not for keeping my wife or anyone away from people, thats not the point. But lets not be to ready to dismiss the idea that it doesnt spread like a germ It does indeed.

well that isnt my experience, on the contrary many people who see what a horrible and painful thing it is will stay well away. I wouldnt want to see anyone that I know go throught it. None of my close friends are divorced and they certainly havent been tempted to get divorced after seeing what I had to go through.
maybe it depends on our friends and the people who we mix with. I know extreemly few Christians who are actually divorced.

chosenone,

I am retired from an airline, and we have a saying, "there is nothing more useless than runway behind you, or spent fuel."  Have you noticed how the cockpit is always in the front of the aircraft?  The II Vatican Council produced the 16 documents of our faith and our calling as Christians in the modern World. A whole series of renewal movements began in the people, and one of these is the Charismatic Renewal that you and I share as Charismatics. Being a Charismatic is not about our past mistakes.  It is an awakening of our faith, hope, and love in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:32 - "But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultry. And whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultry."

Seems that Jesus was saying that if your spouse has slept with someone other than you, that's grounds for a divorce.

The divorce He hates is when you do it for any other reason other than adultry.

Let me be sarcastic and say those who agree with you here essentially just are not as sophisticated as those who have, as one guy puts it, "harmonized the word" (redefines it). I tend to agree with you though so I am not sophisticated either.

well that is one thing we agree on then. That is why I love telling people how God has restored my life.I am looking forward and thankful to have left the old life behind.Even more amazing is what God has done in my adult children's lives, and that is largely due to my marriage and their step father..

I will say this that even though I do not like divorce either, but have been through two of them myself and as devastating as they were to me I felt like God would condemn me to hell because I was a Christian divorced women and was told by many that God would not love me anymore until I studied His word through His Spirit and found that there are circumstances that allow you to leave your mate. I will say one thing for myself that during the time of my last divorce until I remarried again opened my Spiritual eyes and brought me to a closer relationship with Jesus and his word and truly who he is in my life. God also showed me how to look for the right mate that was Christ centered and yes today God has restored many things back to me that I never had before and now my husband of 12 years and I enjoy a life full of Gods blessings of restoration and serve Him with a glad heart.

Banish you need to trust your wife more to make good and honest decisions in her life with Christ being the center of her decisions. Locking someone up so they will not associate with others you redeem not good for you and her is not only a trust issue you have with her, but not of God as how will the both of you be opened to witness to everyone you come in contact with if you choose who to ignore and who to speak with. Who were the people that God has used throughout the whole Bible, but those who were the least of the least. Do you think that Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jacob, David and many others were perfect and did not sin, no they were the worst of the worst that the love of God spoke to and spoke through to witness His grace and mercy through. You banished are picking and choosing who to witness to and this is a very bad road and a fine line you are walking and it will be you and you alone that stands before Jesus to give an account for your life. I am not judging you, but giving you food for thought.

Lotta confusion here.

When discussing DIVORCE....its not the same as discussing the divorcED.

Its like discussing theft, the act of stealing.....is very different than discussing the THEIF.

The divorcED and the THEIF....are forgivEN

yet, as something potentially coming IN THE FUTURE......divorce and theft are sins on the horizon.

Do not rationalize a sin because of the fact that afterwards it is forgiven. We dont do that for ANY sin, except divorce.

Debbie its so good to hear from another person who God has blessed and restored so much after our apparent 'failures'of the past.
God Bless you.
God is a God who LOVES to give us back all that we have lost. He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds and puts the lonely into families.

chosenone,

This is a quote you made the other day in the "Catholic Anglican Reunion thread":

(quote)
I now go to charismatic churches where God can actually do things that He wants to, and He heals, restores and delivers and he doesnt  have to try to fit in around mans rules and regulations and traditions. yes .Freedom at last!
(end of quote)

I am a Christmatic!  Since when do Christmatics drive around looking in the rear view mirror?

Seems that Jesus was saying that if your spouse has slept with someone other than you, that's grounds for a divorce.

The divorce He hates is when you do it for any other reason other than adultry.

No... He still hates it then, but He is saying that it is a betrayal of the deepest kind and that sometimes, we can't remain and live in that.  He understands.

chosenone,

Acts 19 says:

"11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: 12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them." (Acts 19:11-12)
