God’s True Israel Today

Rom. 2:28-29 reads, “For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit [of the new covenant], not by the letter” [of the old covenant].

If we are in Christ, we are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise. These heirs, you and me, are the Israel of God—that is, the real Israel, not old Israel. Quite interesting it is that all believers today are spiritual Jews, thus new or true Israel.

You and I are not outward or physical Jews. We are Jews inwardly because we have been born anew in Christ. And if Jews inwardly, we are God’s true Israel. To phrase it another way, we are the true Israel, not Israel after the flesh, but the Israel of the promise and of God.

On Galatians 6:16, Adam Clarke, noted Greek and Hebrew scholar, almost 200 years ago, explained, “ ‘The Israel of God’ – The true Christians, called here ‘the Israel of God,’ to distinguish them from Israel according to the flesh.”—Clarke, Vol. 6, page 417.

When we consider all of this biblical information, we are, or should be, convinced that the only true Israel God has in the grace era today is the community or one body of believers. National Israel in the Middle East is just that, National rather than Divine—a matter I have affirmed for decades, and still affirm.

Romans 9-11 are a good read on this topic and don't agree with Buff's take.

Gentiles are a wild olive shoot, grafted in. There is still a remnant of Israel, so be careful with the "true Israel" stuff.

Concerning Israel:
Romans 11:28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable

On Romans 11:5, when Paul spoke of a remnant “at this present time”—that is, at the time Paul penned those words, there was a considerable number of Jews who had been aligned with the old Israel of the flesh but who had accepted the grace of the Good News and became aligned with the true Israel, the community of the redeemed.

I see no contradiction between Romans 2:28-29, the passages I introduced, and the Roman passage you introduced. Let us understand that the Jewish race has always been God’s chosen people. This included Israel of the flesh under Moses, and even before Moses, and today it includes Israel of the Spirit—that is, the new or true Israel today, you and me and all believers everywhere.

As to your “true Israel stuff” statement, you will need to take that up with Paul in Galatians 6:16. “And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.” Paul was not referring to old Israel, but to the new true Israel, the one body of believers as described in Ephesians. 4:4.

Actually, the nucleus of the whole matter is that National Israel in the Middle East is not the new or true Israel Paul mentions in his letter to the Galatians. National Israel is largely composed of Jews, yes; no problem here. But they are Israel of the flesh, not Israel of the Spirit. Paul seems to allude to a day, if that day has not come and gone, when many of the old Israel of the flesh will be converted and become part of the true Israel of the Spirit, the one body of believers.

You and I, Texas Ranger, plus all other believers everywhere, are God’s favorite people because we are spiritual Jews in that we are the true Israel today.

Andthere are 3 Greek words NEITHER / OV in this verse , and all all NEGATIVE , NOOOOOOOOOOO.

What it means , all in the B O C ARE a new creation .

Neither the Gentiles nor the Jews are the whole thing. Both are branches.

And I read Rom 2 :28 and did not see the Israel of God written there , do you have a vers OTHER than Gal 6:16 >

In Gal 3:28 IF you are " in CHRIST " are no Jews in the BODY OF CHRIST !!

Romans 2:28-29 relates to all who have acknowledged Christ are spiritual Jews inwardly. Therefore, as Jews we are the real Israel.

But Gal 3:28 says , There is NEITHER / OV and this Greek word means there NEITHER or CANNOT BE Jew or Greek " in CHRIST and it also written in Col 3:11 and it uses the Greek word CANNOT BE , and means the same thing , A DISJUNCATIVE PARTICLE NEGATIVE .

Because all in the B O C ARE new creations , is simple !!
