I think God is putting me in one right now. I'm going to a apply for job that I really want(It's still in the area of a job where I can realistically get)  but... My dad told me to not put that I was working at Mc Donalds(Which is the only job I've had, and I was let go from). I think God is convicting me into putting in the fact that I worked at Mc Donalds. What do you guys think?

Also please pray I get that job I want.

Listen to your father...he is your God Given parent for advice in these sorts of situations and you are entering a world you know nothing about but he has lived there a lot longer than you.

Listen to him.

Two things:
1. If the potential employer is asking for your past work experience, I'm pretty sure that God would have you tell the truth about your past work experience.  (Revelation 21:8)

2. If the employer has not asked for past work experience, but you still feel it is right to inform them of your previous work.  You may run the risk of searing your conscience by doing something you feel is wrong.

I agree with both previous posts.  JDB hit an important truth.  In conjunction with that, at your age, you need to be learning to hear the voice of God and do it no matter what.  This takes growing in by doing!  Which demands the conclusion that mistakes will be made, but that's part of learning the voice of the Lord.  And listening to your earthly father.  Both are important, but I'd emphasize seeking your Heavenly Father's advice directly.  If that isn't forthcoming, then JDB was spot on.  If you can't do that without thinking that you might be sinning against God, or not doing what He might want of you, you find yourself in the position that Stilts spoke of.  That isn't in and of itself evil or sin, as you might be in that position merely due to ignorance, immaturity, or a lack of insight.

Go grow in Him, and in walking on this earth: listen intently to Him -- then carry on full bore in it and learn after you've seen the chips fall where they do.

hey, i've been there....

mcdonald's is a good choice for a resume i think, because unfortunately, it's the bottom of the barrel and if they know you've worked there, then they know you've done your share of bottom of the barrel HARD work....yes, i believe mcdonald's is hard work because God had been trying to get me to work there for years and it took 20 years of humbling of myself before i did it...... and after busting my head on overhead monitors, and such, i quit... but i put my time in that the lord gave me....just so i could prove to myself that i would humble myself and take a job like that....

now, really, i'm not sure the lord is going to tell everybody to work for mcdonald's...just some of us who need it..

i guess i started off in life at the top, my first job was as a computer rep and specialist for Hytek computers at age 18...
i was computer savvy at that age...

then took jobs like Universal Data Systems (motorola) and Space Camp/Academy...

Unfortunately, because of women and irresponsibility i lost my stature in life to go to the bottom...ended up living off the government for
several years....

now, i'm making a living delivering pizzas...which is not prestigious but it gives me a nice apartment and a fairly nice car

hoping to do something with my life still though... i'm not whipped yet!!
i have a college degree in communication arts and counseling experience plus a math minor and some public speaking skills

anyway, so you lost your job at mcdonalds..... perhaps there was a good reason and really who cares?
you put your time in there like a good soldier!

I think employers expect that people leave off irrelevant details in a resume. If you go to any place where they talk about resume, they'll tell you to not gum it up to distract with details that are not telling. On the other hand you can come up with creative ways of showing what skills you develop at McDonald's apply for a professional-level job.

l.a. providence has some good thoughts, too. It's simply a matter of strategy.

Dunno what the issue of conscience is about Dad, to be honest. I've done what mine has told me against my better judgment sometimes and those were some of the most punishing mistakes I ever made and even he complained about the results.

I am in need of being reminded of things that God has already taught me.

Trust me--I'm not like most people. 90% of the time, I'm straight-faced and it really isn't personal.
