Can a homosexual person be saved? Let me rephrase this question: Can he or she be saved while continuing on living the homosexual lifestyle? What about if they decide to maintain celibacy for the rest of their life?

Bible says that all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, will have eternal life. God doesn't hate the sinner, he hates the sin. God doesn't hate the homosexual, he hates the sin of homosexuality.
That's why any gay who sincerely accepts Jesus in their heart, realizes their sin and turns away from it will be saved. That doesn't mean they will never slip. Anybody who is prone to a certain sin has tendency to give into it in the moment of weakness. I realize that it must be a tremendous burden to have an attraction for the same gender while trying to maintain purity. I admire those who are able to resist this temptation.
On the other hand, if a gay person accepts Jesus but still keeps having intimate relations with the same gender, makes me wonder if they truly accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in the first place.
Nobody, in my opinion, who made true commitment to follow Jesus and walked with Him for some time, is capable of staying in habitual sin.

If a person who has same sex attraction and stays away from it, and is a Christian, then yes he is surely saved.

I suppose the same applies to a hetrosexual couple who are having sex but arent married. Are they saved even if they know that they shouldnt be doing it? I know people in this position who know that it is wrong but do it anyway. No different surely from the gay couple?

Homosexuality in the Word, whether it be in the Torah or the New Covenant is treated as a sin and no one who has the knowledge of Salvation and practices sin can inherit the Kingdom of God.
The word Clearly estates, that those who have sex of the same gender, or drunks or liars or thieves or adulterers or fornicators shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God, Homosexuality is not a special sin, so all sinners who come to the knowledge of salvation through faith in The Messiah and by the atonement of his blood is forgiven, no matter what they did before, there is no distinction of persons for God, he wants all men to repent"

Will they change? Yes, but it may not be immediate, and it may take a long time for them to fail over and over again before they come to a place where they see they have no strength and must rely on God's strength.

Great point. I agree. I know many who are dating and being intimate. So homosexuality is no worse or no better in God's eyes from this standpoint. Thank you for bringing that up.

Luka....thank you for this!!!!!!! When an alcoholic gets saved do we expect them to get over it quick?? Also, we have to remember that homosexuality has deep roots and will most likely need much more time and healing...also, because we live in a fallen world, which has affected everything, there are many anomalies that people are born with. People are born with both reproductive organs, NO reproductive organs, both chromosomes, or the chromosomes of the opposite sex...WE have to realize, more then anything, that without Christ we can do nothing...therefore, we cannot expect people to change BEFORE coming to Christ...or even after, until they mature some and are able to let go of it...until they have learned to trust God for more and more things.

GOD does not want us to hate. Do you realize if we hated sin we would hate just
everything in our lives. We sin everyday in some way or another. There is no such
thing as good sins and bad sins. No such thing as big sins and little sins.
JESUS did not say I will love you but only if you do not do this or that sin..
JESUS said I love you and I forgive you. God said your salvation comes by
faith and not by your actions or your inaction.The day that we leave this world
and enter heaven is the day we will no longer sin.

If I am an adulterer, I must repent from that. If I am a teenager engaging in pre-marital sex, I must repent fromt that. So it is with any sin. Does repentence mean we are not tempted? No. Does it mean we live perfectly? No. Does it mean we have Godly sorrow for the things that separate us from God and cause us to want to turn from those things? Yes.
