Title: How to find peace?
Post by: surrendersacrifice on October 23, 2008, 10:23:03 PM
How to find peace?

We are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and have his spirit imprinted on our heart (Ezekiel 36:27).  Therefore, we will find peace only when our spirit resonates in unison with His spirit and we live a life that is attuned to His life. This means that we love and forgive others like Him, and stay faithful to others even in the face of unfaithfulness.

"This means that we love and forgive others like Him, and stay faithful to others even in the face of unfaithfulness."

This can be a challenging thing to do some times but the truth is that if we store up anger and resentment it does us more harm that the one we are angry at. Anger makes a otherwise good person very negative and just hard to be around. It eats one from inside out. It builds and builds until it just closes down the peace one has within himself. It is much better to let go and move on than to hold on to anger. Never does it say you have to hang with one but you must find it in your heart to forgive and let go because it will hurt you more than them not to.

Well I guess I am not doing a good job of expressing myself . Don't really know just how to word what I am trying to express so I will leave it to others with better ability to do so.

Well, no. The real reason we find it in our hearts to forgive people is because we become God-people and are moved to forgive. The fact that it is good for us is simply a side benefit from acting with integrity.

Well ok it is because of God but the reason God teaches us this is because he knows the damage it will have on one. It is a work in process it does not happen the minute one has received salvation. It is a learned ability that God helps us to achieve. You know part of the growing in the Spirit thing.

God makes it possible.  amen

I really believe that you are right on about this, and this is why having the living word alive in our lives is so important. God gave us life through His Holy Spirit, and He also gave us the inspired word...if we are to be in unison with His Spirit then we have to be deeply immersed in the living word. Not that merely studying the word will replace an actual relationship with God, but I think of the word as a compass that points to the real living God that we can come to know in a real way.

Thanks for your post....I give you manna.

 ::smile::

today I took a walk during lunch between the ASB pond and the Settling pond on the back of our mill.
a bit malodorous, perhaps.  but, the sounds of a killdeer disturbed by my presence,
the ducks settling on the pond, squawking back and forth,
the colors of the yellowing sweet gums, the red of the sumac, the fading greens into browns;
the persimmons I have been checking for ripeness in previous walks,
the water rippling in the drainage ditch culvert at the head of the trail, the grasses blowing in the breeze ...
God is everywhere evident, even in this man-made, industrial eye-sore!

I find peace, walking, and talking to my Savior (much like Tevye in FOTR)
as I stroll along improving my cardiovascular health and hopefully lowering triglycerides!

the anger subsides; the tension relaxes; the anxiety dissipates; the focus elevates.

Of course you are.
You are among the most humble I have met.
I didn't mean to overlook you. Just not feeling well.

Sure you are... but some people always find something to critique in the experience and wisdom of others, I think it makes them feel more spiritual or something.

But, I got what you were saying the first time. Manna to you.  ::tippinghat::

And sometimes your peace is in getting away from the pain.  That does not mean unforgiveness, that means you need a healing too. And there is nothing wrong with that. Jesus healed EVERYONE who asked him...  even though some had to move to get it. Even the man at the pool of Bethesda realized that if he didn't, or couldn't move, He NEEDED Jesus to meet him there where he lay.

It's okay though to be able to move, we trivialize that too much, making it appear that it's less of a healing if move to get what we need, be it peace, healing, freedom, deliverance... but the woman with the issue... she MOVED to get to her healing.  God Bless.
