Wouldn’t the water baptism in Christ’s name in Acts 2:38 be bu the Spirit. We are given the gift of the Spirit upon repentance and baptism in Christ’s name. That’s what differentiated Jesus’s baptism from Johns - the goft of the Spirit.

And , when  looking at the  AUDIENCE  of  Peter in Acts 2 : 36  it is  the   House of  Israel  and  not  GENTILES  .

This where  Peter  FIRST  uses  the  KEYS  to the  KINGDOM of  HEAVEN  , Matt 16:19 ..

Peter uses of  THE  KEYS , LOOSES  repentance to  Israel .

#1  They will  have  to  BAPTIZED  in the  name of  Jesus   Christ .

#2  Why  the  change from  Matt  28:19  in the  TRUINE GOD ?

#3  If  Israel  repentened   , but  they  did  not and were  set n ASIDE  in  2  Cor  3:10-16 and in  Acts 28:26-28 .

#4  If  Israel  had  repented   YOU  WILL /  LAMBANO  is in the  Greek  FUTURE  TENSE   the gift of the  Holy  Spirit .

The 3000 repented and were baptized in Christ name for forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Quote
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

They were saved by having their sins forgiven and they received the gift of the gift of the (indwelling} Spirit that same day. - the very definition of salvation. Not very far at all in the furure. A baptism that involved water and the Spirit. WHOA! And connected the repentant sinner to the cleansing blood of Christ. The cleansing is done by the blood of Christ. The water is Spiritually inert. The indwelling Spirit helps one to walk in the light as Christ is in the light (and IS the light), SO THAT the blood of Christ continually cleanses his sins. 1John:1. What a plan!

Yes.  I should have been more careful with my statements.  I was referring to the discussion between Jesus and Nicodemus. I have no doubt that Jesus had the power of speaking any language He needed to; i.e., the power of speaking in tongues.
You know what's kind of interesting?  In Greek, that word is actually singular - a tongue.  I think the implication is that the apostles were able to speak in a single language that everyone could understand.

Probably not.  You take away from His humanity when you take that view point.  You are probably familiar with this verse:

Philippians 2:7
but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.

I am told by Greek scholars that it actually says "emptied Himself of himself," meaning He left behind all of his divine powers and had to rely on the Holy Spirit just as we do.  That is the only way He could TRULY be our example as it says in Hebrews.

And will you  provide verse that Christ  depended on the  HOLY  SPIRIT ?

Jesus  raised the  dead , heal  many Jews , controlled the  seas , just mentioned a  few things  Christ  did 1

Will you explain  Phil  2:6-8  ,  and  what  it   mean ??

I do no such thing.

Act 2:22  "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know--

I believe that Jesus, the Son of God, worked those miracles and wonders and signs that God did through him by the power of the Holy Spirit which descended upon Him at His baptism.  So that Jesus, as completely human, was able to do such works in the same way that others throughout the Old and New Testaments were able to do such works, that is, by the empowering of the Holy Spirit.

And  I  do  believe   IN  WATER  BAPTISM   , and that  BAPTISM  will  come  back during the  GREAT  TRIBULATION  as  written in  Mark 16:20  and that their  preaching  will be to Jews as  Rev 7:4-8  says !
