Joel Osteen: Mormon Romney Is Christian; Obama Is Too

April 25, 2012

"...on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" and said that he (Osteen) considers both presumed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, a Mormon, and President Obama to be Christians."

How much more proof does one need to see that this guy has no concern for what the bible says but is in it for the money?

He is a great teacher who has the gift of encouragement. He is one of  only 2 American teachers that I will watch on godtv. Most make me cringe.
In Him I live and move and have my being.

My determined purpose is that I may know Him - that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly."

It is by Grace we have been saved though Faith and not by works so that no one can boast.

Wow!

Folks seriously need to leave Joel alone...seriously  ::frown::

He does not teach according to my preferences but He is certainly a man of God doing God's Work the way God has given it to him

Peter taught error in doctrine in Galatians 2... Does that make him a false teacher?

Who among us is free of error in teaching?  Who can see clearly?  Matthew 7 comes to mind...

Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Peace
Acts 4:31 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they which love your law: and nothing shall offend them.

Likewise and that is because he is moved with compassion for people by the Love of God within him which is the reason why his ministry continues to prosper and God's anointing is upon him

and.... in addition and most importantly he did not strive for or covet the position he finds himself in

Osteen is a false teacher through and through.  From what Osteen said in the article I posted, I doubt he knows an apostle from an epistle.  A person can approve of abortion and homosexuality and be a Christian?  People can believe whatever they want to, even if they contradict each other in ther beliefs, yet they all are Christians?

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." 2 Tim 4:3,4.

If there is anything at all we can know for sure...... based on what we can see by the ideas you put forth in this forum, one thing is certain .....and that is

if you think Joel Osteen is false, then that is as good a justification for the rest of us believing he is not  ::lookaround::

This comes from someone who makes God at fault for man's sins.

So, I am to think your are pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality and accept Joseph Smith's writings as being inspired of God.

I don't know much about Osteen, except that he teaches prosperity, which IMHO is dangerous.

But more importantly than that, I believe he has become a rockstar too big for his britches. He should share the spotlight more, lest he end up gathering personal groupies instead of Christian converts.

I'm sure you prefer some to preach the poverty gospel. The poor homeless, begging for a place to sleep and a morsel to eat mythological Jesus created by the Catholics

I'm sure you believe God wants you living in a tin hut, in a run down slum community. driving an old jalopy barely scraping to get by, living off of government handouts, can't afford an education not knowing where your next meal is coming from......waiting for blessings in the hereafter ....right?   ::shrug::

So your idea is instead of getting out of the spotlight he should share it?  ::headscratch::

How about giving Jesus the entire spotlight the way he does....whatta you think about that?

Seriously Steve You gotta be too big for your own britches just to make those types of broad statements against someone who you admittedly don't know too much about.

Someone of whom you could only pray and dream of accomplishing a tenth of what God has done through Joel to advance His Kingdom on earth ....SERIOUSLY!

Gospel, I'm sure you know what the "prosperity gospel" is. It's a message of entitlement, as opposed to the Bible message of grace.

I don't need to know the guy personally, to know that too may preachers today have legions of personal groupies. Then when the preacher moves or dies or retires, the attendance and the giving both drop off precipitously. Whereas if he shared the pulpit with a few others, such is far less likely to happen.  This kind of thing happens all the time, all over the world.

I want to hear a preacher preach the gospel truth, not a lot of hypocritcal, contradicting, hodge-podge of believe-whatever-you-want-to-ism and whatever you beleive makes you a Christian.  Osteen is advancing error and those that follow him will be lost with him.   So tell me, do you accept Joseph Smith's words as inspired by God?  Do you accept abortion and homosexuality?
