marc, you are in my prayers.  When I can't focus, I just keep talking or trying as I know the Holy Spirit is able to discern my needs and will get the word to the Father.  This also lets the Holy Spirit become more involved in my needs.

marc, I hope this helps.  I'm sure that God will help you focus when the time is right.  I'm also sure that the Holy Siprit is working on the problem right now.

Thanks for sharing.

marc,
I have had to go to the Lord before and simply tell him that I don't know what I need other than him.  The H.S. does intercede on your behalf and will present your needs.  I think it's fine to pray and state that your frustrated, tired, confused or whatever the case is.  I will pray for you as well.
Take care,
terry

Thanks everyone.  Things are coming a little easier now.  I may not post as much here for a few days; I have some decisions to make.  I'm not intentionally being secretive about this--it's just that there's a lot of background, some of which I have talked about in other posts some time ago.  I just have to decide how to handle something without either compromising what I consider a very important truth or ruining personal relationships (something I apparently failed to do a last summer).  What makes this more difficult is that it involves family.

In the end, this may not be as big of a deal as it seems now.  It may be that the effect this is having on me is somewhat cumulative.  And I did sleep last night.

Again, thanks.

I am posting right now because I am awake.  Not that I haven't tried to sleep, but that I can't.  I have something bothering me--something I may discuss on this board in the future, but not now.  It is a Biblical matter--a conflict, really--but at the moment I'm not sure discussion will help.  The problem is that a conflict has occured where I didn't expect one.  What would help, I think, is prayer.

But prayer isn't coming easy.

I guess this is what Paul's talking about in Romans 8 about the Spirit helping us.  I just can't seem to focus.  I try to talk to God, and the words won't come.

And words tend to come easy to me.  And as far as focusing--I could live completely inside my own head (too often I do).  So this is a problem I shouldn't be having.  Yet it is a problem that occurs frequently.  Any suggestions?  What do you do when prayer doesn't come as it should? ???

Something I wrote, very short, that will maybe help you see what prayer is.

Prayer is not the words formed on our lips--but the desire of our heart--rising on the Spirit's wings--reaching the heart of a God--whose love extends beyond the boundaries of our finite minds.

marc, in the midst of trouble, and it is part of our call, He will give strength in our weakness, even if at the moment it doesn't feel like it. The flesh will be in pain, but the outcome will be glorious. This is where perseverance comes in--sorrow may endure for a night--but sometimes the night is very long.Things happen that do not look like what we "think" is the mark of a Christian and God uses these things to undo our perceptions of all of it. Our walk is always a beginning. may God give you peace.

Marc, I've been in that position of being totally flustered about something and not being able to form the words.

I just set aside a quiet private time and turned it over to God even though I didn't know what to say. I just prayed over and over for help.
