It seems we all need a reminder of just exactly what the rules are. Please review the below. Originally posted by admin (formatting added by yours truly).
General guideline for all posts: We ask that posters read over their posts for typos and confusing word structure BEFORE submitting the post. This will help make this forum a more pleasant experience for all. Please use complete sentences ending with periods and be sure to capitalize proper nouns such as "I," "Joe," "God," "Nashville," and the first letter of each sentence. This will improve communication among posters.
Rule No. 1 - No "Flaming"
1.1 You may discuss another individual's beliefs or religious organization but you will not harass, insult, belittle, threaten, defame or flame the individual (member or nonmember) as this is considered personal attacks in posts, PMs and any other communication within this site. This includes, but is not limited to:
a. Directly calling another member “cultist,” “heretic” or “bigot” as these are personal attacks and are not
conducive to civil discussion.
b. Calling famous individuals derogatory names (unless it is a well known nickname) as this may be considered
1.2 You will not directly call another member or his or her religious organization a “cult”, “heretic,” “demonic” or “satanic” if it holds beliefs consistent with orthodox Christianity as set forth in Rule 6. You may discuss doctrines, teachings, practices or writings of other religious organizations as long as evidence (including Scripture) is provided.
1.3 You will only post negative statements about another individual’s belief or religious organization (including non-Christian religions) with objective evidence provided. Members are allowed to say “The doctrines X church is false because of Y scriptures and Z other relevant evidence."
1.4 You will not misquote another member regardless of context. You will not quote another member in your profile including your signature without permission - such quotes will be removed.
1.5 You will not directly state or otherwise imply that another member is not a Christian if he or she genuinely believes in Jesus Christ as the savior of human beings from hell and claims to have demonstrable faith in Him.
Rule No. 2 - No "Trolling"
2.1 You will not do anything on Grace-Centered Christian Forums that disrupts the peace and harmony of this forum. This includes, but not is limited to:
a. Deliberately reposting a post, thread, image, or anything else that has been removed by a moderator for a
breach of a forum rule.
b. Baiting where a member harasses another member to the point where he or she might retaliate in a flame.
c. Brinking where a member deliberately does things to push the boundaries of the forum rules.
2.2 You will not start threads with topics that are not relevant to the forum topic. Staff reserves the right to move threads to the appropriate forums.
2.3 You will not post replies in threads that are off-topic to the original post. That is considered “thread hijacking” and staff may intervene to bring threads back on-topic.
2.4 You will not stalk and harass other members
2.5 You will not post in public any private correspondence (including contents of emails, PMs, IMs etc.) between yourself and another GCM member without the expressed permission of that member.
2.6 You will not publicly question a moderator's decision or accuse him/her of being biased or dishonest because of a decision. This will result in deletion of your post and possibly cause your account to be banned or suspended. Questioning of a moderator's decision may be done by sending a polite private message to the moderator who made the decision or other moderators.
2.7 You will not post messages stating you will not return to the forums because of posting experiences or make generalizations suggesting this forum has bad character and is unworthy of a return visit. Such posts will be deleted.
Rule No. 3 - No "Spamming"
3.1 You will not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, email address, business, MLM (Multi Level Marketing or pyramid schemes), activity, church, ministry, prophetic services or any other entities or services that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion).
3.2 You will not request, beg or solicit donations or financial support (charitable or otherwise, for any reason) anywhere on the site including in e-mails, posts, and PMs).
3.3 You will not be able to post external links (defined as URLs to links off this site) until you have a post count of 20.
3.4 External links, website addresses, domain names or email addresses in your signature, avatar, or custom user title will be heavily moderated. If you have a link in your signature, a return link to Grace-Centered Message Forums MUST be on the site you are linking to. ANY EXTERNAL LINK IN YOUR SIGNATURE MUST BE NO GREATER THAN 2 POINTS IN TEXT SIZE. You may not add code to your signature that shows a poster their computer's IP address. You may post links or addresses in your profile as long as they abide by the rest of the forum rules.
3.5 You will not cross-post the same message (as a new thread or a reply) to 2 different forums at the same time.
3.6 You will try your best not to start a new thread if a thread already exists on the same topic. Staff may choose to intervene to merge threads with similar topics to prevent cluttering the forums.
3.7 You will not mass PM or email multiple members of this website with the same message.
3.8 You will not make useless posts to increase your post count.
3.9 You will post a well thought-out message after you have read through it for typos and misspellings. Not only are sloppy, typo-ridden posts difficult to read, but they harm your credibility in the eyes of those who read your post and add to a moderators job.
Rule No. 4 - No "Offensive" or "Illegal" Posts, PMs, Links, or Images
4.1 You will not post, attach, use or send any posts, PMs, links, images or files:
a. that are obscene, vulgar, or sexually explicit. Discussion of the sexual relationship between a married man
and woman may be discussed in the Love and Marriage Relationships Forum.
b. that are hateful, racist, or sexist (discussions regarding certain biblical interpretations on the roles of men
and women will not be considered "sexist" under this rule).
c. that violate or promote the violation of local or international laws and regulations (including the posting of
any copyright material such as songs, movies or text). All quoted articles from external sources such as news
articles must not be more than 10% of the original article to be legal or else copyright is infringed. A link must
be provided to all quoted material. The only exception is quotes for AP (Associated Press) articles which are
limited to one sentence only or where permission by the author is granted for reproduction in full with the
d. that are blasphemous or satanic (including posts that take the Lord's name in vain).
e. puts down or belittles Christianity as a whole, a Christian group or denomination or God Himself, Jesus
Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible or any other Christian objects of significance (as this is a Christian website).
f. depicts self-harm, suicide, cruelty to animals or harm towards others.
g. that is in all CAPS, all bold font, or for which the font size has been substantially enlarged. Such posts may be modified or deleted. (Feel free to use bold, font size or CAPS for emphasis... just don't apply them to the entire post)
4.2 You will remove any word and use an alternative if the word you posted is automatically censored by the site. You will not attempt to bypass the automatic word censor in any way.
Rule No. 5 - No Promotion of Other Religions
5.1 You will not post, attach, use or send any posts, PMs, links, images or files that promote a religion, belief, faith or doctrine other than "Christianity" as defined in Rule 6. A post that merely provides information about a non-Christian belief is allowed for informational purposes only (ideally with references provided) and without promotion. Promotion is defined as encouragement of the progress, growth, or acceptance of something including advertising and publicity.
a. For the purposes of this rule, Atheism is to be considered as a "religion".
b. Links to websites that only contain information with no promotional intention is usually allowed. However,
links to websites that contain advertising of events, sales of literature or merchandise, contact, donation or
registration forms to organizations, or other promotional intention is prohibited. Announcements of Christian
events may be posted in the Christian Events section.
c. Attempts to convert Christians to non-Christian (as per Rule 6) religions or to deconvert Christians members
will not be allowed under this rule. Messages that are posted with the intent of bringing about doubt of the
Bible as God's inspired Word or the existence of God will not be tolerated.
Rule No. 6 - This is a "Christian Forum"
6.1 This is a best described as a "Christian-only" message forum. However, administration reserves the right to allow members of other religions if deemed productive. To have a "Christians only" forum, we need to define who can post. Therefore, we need a set of criteria that clearly defines who a Christian is for the purposes of posting. This is not for any other reason. We are not speculating as to a person's salvation, faith or beliefs. This rule is not intended to label a member as "non-Christian".
6.2 We do not expect members to accept or affirm this as a Creed as Grace-Centered recognizes no Creed but the Bible. We do, however, expect members to agree to the content below only because it is based on the Bible.
6.3 An Adaptation of The Nicene Creed (with scriptural references as it is based on the Bible):
