What does faith do?
« on: Tue Dec 31, 2019 - 19:38:16 »
True faith makes belief a reality. In other words, if we have true faith, our belief is so strong that we live by our belief. Therefore, if one believes in Jesus, he/she would live according to Jesus’ spirit of selflessness, forgiveness, sacrifice, compassion, mercy, humility, and undying faithfulness (even in the face of betrayal and hurt).  Faith in God leads to love for God; love for God leads to obedience to His commandments (John 14:15); obedience to his commandments leads to receiving his Spirit (Act 5:32); and receiving the Spirit leads to life in Christ.

One more time we see a deep confusion being introduced because of the nuance in the English language between the word faith and belief.  The words faith and belief are translated from the very same Greek word.  Biblically speaking faith is belief. And that makes your first sentence a bit confusing.

For what it is worth, faith doesn't "do" anything.

What does faith do?

Faith isn't power and so does not cause anything.

What does faith do?

Faith isn't power and so does not cause anything.
But faith is that supernatural power that quickly reminds us that God is in control of our lives. His plans for us are for good. (Jer. 29:11)
Faith is meant to give us peace in the trials of life which would naturally cause fear without conscious and subconscious faith.
Faith is meant to grow, as it comes by hearing the word of God.

Faith without action... isn't faith.

So, the question is what action did you take when you stepped out in faith?  The results will vary depending on what the action was.

There were incidents of supernatural faith.  However that was certainly not the norm. The norm for the source of faith is hearing the word about Christ.  And that is not by supernatural means.  And I have no idea what a subconscious faith might be.  Here again, there is too much confusion being generated by the nuanced distinction in English between faith and belief.  Biblically they are one and the same, being translated from the same Greek word.

As I said, faith isn't power. Make no mistake.

Here's one scriptures that tells us about faith:

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Scriptures also tells us of faith, that it is through which we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, and that without it, it is impossible to please God.
