that day on the road to damascus, what would God have done if paul hadnt believed? changed?

He would have looked for another.

Does going against the word of the Lord have its desired results? Thy will be done?

Jonah 1:2  Arise (Jonah), go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it . .

Jonah 1:3  But Jonah rose up to flee . . . unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

Jonah 1:4 But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea . . . so that the ship was like to be broken.

Jonah 1:17  Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah . .

Jonah 2:1  And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

Jonah 2:2  Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach . .

Would Paul have fared better than Jonah in refusing when the Lord told him in Acts 22:15,  For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. Would the Lord have prepared an ass or a camel to swallow him up and deliver him to where He wanted him?

then do we have a choice???????    ???  ???

"Choice" is a relative term. In reality every choice has a cause behind it.

It's much like the word "random," where in reality there's actually no such thing as "random." Every occurrence has a cause.
I am in need of being reminded of things that God has already taught me.

Trust me--I'm not like most people. 90% of the time, I'm straight-faced and it really isn't personal.

Conjecture  is  folly.

Yet in anwer .God was not put on the back foot when Adam sinned.

The salvation of God was predetermined.

Sin must come but woe to him b ywhom it comes.

The fact is that God is more than able to LEAD a man step by step  to Christ.
Moreover hwo to convince a man of the truth.

saul was steeped in the scriptures  what he saw on that day in that place  convinced him this was the LORD who was of old and who Abaraham saw moses and the rest.

You would seem also to sugest  a man and clay at that  can resist God.

Woe to the man who in his strength resists God  for God may make him stronger to do so to his own destruction.

You are forgettting the context.

Saul had just watched the death of Stephen.

he was party to it and agreed with it and thougth it was Gods will.

yet What sayeth the scripture?

They overcame the devil by the blood of the lamb and the word of thier testomomany"
The testomonay  of Stephen  and the manner of his death stormed the citadels of Sauls mind  and over came all obsiticals  and brpoke downevery vaim imagination and stronghold in that high place.

he was alone  on that road in his thoughts  which led him to a point .

Like he did with Jonah?

NOT!

God's Will is Sovereign ALWAYS!

God already knew beforehand how Paul would react.  Our sovereign God knows everything especially about those whom He expressly chooses for His purposes, like Paul.  My thoughts.
Candy

God chooses us all, He will deny no one, but not all choose Him and His way and His way is for us to be as these before us were. It is a matter of obediance, you do it or you dont do it. Either you are like Him or you are not. That is your choice, He already has given His desire for us to be like Him and one with Him.

then do we have a choice???????    ???  ???

Though it may seem as if it was a sudden thing on the road to demascusto our eyes it was not .No man sudenly gets converted though it may seem so.People are LED to the truth.
Those willing to follow find it.
The great fish that swallowed Jonah is said of in scripture that "God prepared a great fish"
That great fish was but a minnow once .
Gods forvision makes provision.
He knew how to get Jonah back on the right track and thus prepared a way where there was no way.

Im not sure what is yoru complaint?

That is was God chose you and not yourself chose God?

Man is not God.

Even the heart of king lieth in the hand of God.How much the more  a blind zealot who thought he did Gods will?

You forget what we are?
God does not violate in any way shape or form the intergrity of a man  nor his mind and will.
In that he created man out of the dust of the earth do you think it impossible  for God to use the very substance of our lives to not only form the character that he wants but also lead us to the truth when we dont take heed to His word?
I say that it is not and that he does .

In Christ

My first thought was "slap Paul off his horse again."

I cannot do anything for God.  God can do anything through me.

Still waiting for God to show up?  Good news - He's already here.

does He keep slaping us off of our horse when we dont listen to Him??
::frustrated:: Headaches

I am not living in hell and if this is heaven then God lied and God is not a liar!!!

Pro 1:23  Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
