Where is the perfect manuscript?
« on: Tue Aug 17, 2021 - 16:48:00 »
I post this not to argue or to deny the inspiration of the Bible.  I is just food for thought.  Some make the claim that the original manuscripts of the Bible were perfect without error.  (Usually KJV only folks)  The question is where are they?  How can we claim something is without error that no one has seen? Consider the absurdity of that claim.  But oh the KJV was translated from the best text out there the Texus Receptus .  No it actually did not exist when KJV was translated.  There are many differences in the different manuscripts.  Logic would say the oldest ones would be the most accurate but a careful study will raise much doubt about that view and those were not the ones used in the translation of the KJV.  They were all written by men inspired by God yet they were men.  The major themes and facts of the gospel are consistent in the manuscripts. Just my 2 cents now have fun while I ignore the fuss that will follow.

The King Jimmy is better than the Greek and Hebrew.

WHY comment when there will be no response back? If you cannot defend your position, it is worth less than 2 cent~and if you will ignore what others may say, why do so?  You should not be surprised.

If there was no Greek and/or Hebrew... there would be no King Jimmy translation.

The King Jimmy is even more inspired since it is in English.   ::smile::

On what basis?  He could not even get the name "Jacob" right.  He insisted on calling them "James" instead. (to get his own name in the bible)

English is a mongrel language. (and that is the NICE way of saying it)
Not much good for anything spiritually.

On my authority as "Chief Justice" of the board.  I have also ruled that edifices are required.  No more house assemblies.  And from here on out, no more using "assembly," it must be "church."   ::preachit::

That would be because English is the only language you understand.

Same for Jimmy's men.... which led to explanation after explanation of a certain scripture to avoid that egg on the face thing.

Uh, no. You have no authority as "Chief Justice" of the board until you either wear you long pants or a kilt... always.

Jesus said " I will build my church."  Mathew 16:18 This is the first time the word church is mentioned in the entire bible.

But although it may be very common to hear questions like, “What church do you go to?” or “What church do you belong to?” We can  see from  verses in Matthew 16 and 1 Corinthians 1 that the church isn’t a place we go to or something we join. The Bible shows us the church is the called-out ones who have believed in Jesus Christ, those who have been joined to Him and sanctified unto Him through faith.

Ephesians 5:32 tells us plainly of the  “great mystery” ..... with regard to Christ and the church.”

So Christ and the church together are the great mystery. Since Christ is the Son of the living God, the church, as part of the great mystery, must also be a living entity. So it certainly doesn’t make sense that the church would be a physical structure.

But seeing this is OT.... ::backontopic::[/b]

TC is messing with you as usual making absurd statements to get a reaction out of you.

RB I just said I would ignore the fuss.  I have already defended my position unless you can produce an original autograph it is impossible to prove it is without error.
