Whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds

2 Corinthians 4:4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

What do you think this means? I am talking to the people who know they have to give up there sin.

Hi Paul1234.

The following scriptures are just some thoughts I have on it.

Mt. 13.19  When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

Mk. 4.15     And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

Lk. 8.12     Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

As Satan tempted Jesus, he may offer us things of the world; I do not know all his ways, but he is very successful at it.

First of all, it will help if we look at it in context. Start with 3:12 and read through 4:6. Even better, start with 3:1. Read it straight through at least once, twice would be better.

Now look for the comparisons Paul makes between the old and new covenants and between Moses and himself.

Because of the veil over Moses' face, the Israelites couldn't see the glory of God reflected there. Paul says they are still unable to see God's glory in the Old Testament because that veil is covering their hearts. When they turn to the Lord the veil is removed.

Then Paul says that because his ministry is to help people see the glory of God (by turning to the Lord) he won't trick them into believing or hide the gospel from them, but will only present the truth of God's word. It is Satan who hides the truth from those who don't believe.
