And yet earlier you admited that killing someone in a book is not a sin....Double standard much?

I just checked and I have over 1,000 kills now in my favorite game

I beat that every time I play God of war...lol.

You've literally twisted my words around. I never once said that killing is okay. Of course, those who want to keep people from the truth, always resort to twisting things around to accuse anyone who speak for the truth.

I looked up God of war, and it sure looks demonic. Even the names of characters such as the goddess Atehna or Zuess. Zuess is supposivley the ruler of heaven and earth, lord of the sky. BUt only Jesus is Lord and the first commandment is to not have nay gods before the Lord who created heaven and earth, so Zeus is a false god. God or godess is a form of idol worship. Gods and godesses are pagan concepts. No true christian would have any fellowship with anything that endorses gods and godesses.

As a fan of Greek Mythology (yes I know the difference between Myth and real life)  I knew I would ove the game and when I played the first one and at the end killed Ares to become the god of war I was hooked.    Also a huge fan of Ratchet and Clank and Animal Crossing, Jak and Daxter, The Godfather, Megaman, Star Wars, Spider Man, Kid Iccarus, and many more.

You know what looked demonic to me? The Trinity Blaspheming Network (TBN). I'll take God of War (Fiction) over Benny Hinn (Real False Prophet) any day of the week.

I like the Gospel Music Channel though.  And NRB as it shows ApologetiX.

What if you had a network game of super mario..

Let us say you are one of the 8 Marios on your Mario-team and have 8 Luigis to face, and when you jump on the head of the opponion (that would be one of the Luigis, played by some guy in a different country perhaps) he would squeeze his eyes, fall through the ground, out of the scene and die, not to show up again until the next round.

Very much like Medal of honour, ravenshield etc..

Would that be a sin? hmm...

I figure not. What then if you had vegetables and other things to throw at the enemy instead of granades/guns, like in the actual Mario game, would that make the game any worse?

We`ll have to agree that it is the graphic that makes the modern games questionable.

Games like lucky luke, who also shoot his enemys, is never mentioned because of it`s cartoonish design.

But should it really matter?

Megajedi does not have any fellowship with the mythological gods. In fact, he destroys them for the false gods that they are. Isn't that Christian? To defeat evil?

I don't think it is. My husband and I have war games and killing games. I think it is a sin if you play the games to learn how to do things, or while playing you're thinking about killing someone.

I'd say it depends on what you are killing and how. If you kill a Goomba by jumping on his head I'd say no. If you kill a person by ripping out their guts I'd say yes. Most games today would fall under the sinful category. I don't even see how you would get pleasure from pretending to kill people.

If killing in video games is a sin than being in the military and killing someone is a sin.

If you feed a sin it grows. Video games are for fun. Why kill anything for fun? It's violence for pleasure. In a war situation you kill out of necessity for self-defence, not enjoyment.

Self-defense is different to taking life (or pretending to) to entertain yourself. Would jesus do it? I doubt it very much. And if he wouldn't do something it's for a reason.

Loving violence is a sin. Violence is only necessary for justice or protection, it shouldn't be used or encouraged at any other time.

Games with violence have been used to train soldiers. Why is anything "fun" anyway? Games as timeless as chess and checkers have involved "killing" between opponents, who, in real life, know full-well they are merely challenging each others' skill and intelligence to sharpen their skill. Videogames just take away the need for imagination. Not a whole lot of games are designed with killing defenseless people who don't bother you. Therefore, it actually ISN'T usually the killing itself where the appeal really is

I'm kind of annoyed that with all the pushes for realism gaming violence is unrealistically bloody, though. But in gaming, I think it's the context that really counts--I liked a lot of things about Grand Theft Auto but in the end I didn't care for role-playing as a jerk. But gaming is something that can be enjoyed depending on how it is approached (and is usually designed to allow for that). It's not like I made everything, I just USE it. People can use discernment about what they're seeing rather than "do not taste, do not touch, do not handle" rules and just decide if the thing is beneficial or not.

But back again, I think of how soldiers train on shooting ranges shooting at dark silhouettes--in real life killing people is hard on a person psychologically, and the more realistic the targets look, I think it can be harder on a person (like, if they used more life-like targets, they wouldn't be doing so well after training every day). Something to think about for this day in age.

Trust me--I'm not like most people. 90% of the time, I'm straight-faced and it really isn't personal.

Wow, I never thought of it that way.  I used to be an avid StarCraft player back in the day, but even now, I would still say - No, it's not a sin.  But that's just my opinion.

Although, I do agree with those who say that there is nothing beneficial (spiritually) in playing video games....But they ARE fun!  Jokester
