Of whom was God speaking when He said... "Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart"?

and who did He say it to?

He said it to Samuel when he went to Bethlehem to anoint the new king of Israel.  My gut reaction was that it was said about young David, the shepherd.  But it was actually spoken regarding David's brother, Eliab, when Samuel saw him and thought he must be the one God had chosen.  (I Samuel 16:7)

What is the longest chapter in the Bible?  And what is it's theme?

Psalm 119.  It is all about David's delight in the law of the Lord.

What is the shortest book of the Bible?

Indeed he does!  In Rev. 3 we learn that he hates the doctrine of the Nicolaitans.

Where do we read that Jesus "blew his stack" and attacked certain people?

I believe that would have been during a visit to the temple on passover, commonly referred to afterwards as "the cleansing of the temple" (cf. Mat 21:12-13) I especially like the picture in the very next verse: "And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them." The picture of God coming to earth as Jesus and healing the sick in the temple seems incredibly meaningful to me, just in a way I can't easily put into words.

A pre-trib man like myself would say that will happen when the church has been raptured and the tribulation period begins.  At that time the beast and the false prophet will deceive all nations.

What three Bible books, when mentioned one after the other, would make up a perfect newspaper headline?

Right now I think that would be "JOB NUMBERS, LAMENTATIONS!"

Who would be the prophet that was sawn asunder? (cf. Hbr 11:37)

That would be Jeremiah.

As for the three books that make up a headline, I should have said they actually come in that order in the Bible.  They are Joshua Judges Ruth.

That would be Jude 1:13  "wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever."   NASB

Daniel prayed for his people. Daily he prayed for them. From where did his answer come.  How did it arrive?

At the moment I don't recall where he came from; however, Michael the prince (archangel) came to bring the answer to Daniel's prayers.  He took three weeks getting there because he was "withstood" by the Prince of Persia.

As whom did the Christ appear to Joshua?
