Quote from: Jaime on Sat May 25, 2024 - 21:57:28Mathew 5:19 has always bothered me the way it is translated.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least IN the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

The Greek word translated "IN" the kingdom can also be translated "BY" the kingdom. I find it hard to believe that Jesus would teach that someone who breaks any commandments of the Law, AND teaches others to do so would even BE in the kingdom mucn less LEAST IN it. With the context, it HAS to be LEAST BY (those in) the kingdom.

The way most versions have translate it, one would maybe still be a custodian level in the kingdom of heaven. I would think unlikely considering the context of Mathew 5.

Christ makes clear where the mansions are that await the saints..
John 14:2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Yes, the mansions are in heaven, but is the Kingdom on earth as well as heaven?

Jesus said in the Gospels, the Kingdom of Heaven is AT HAND.

Also, in the Lord's prayer in Mathew 6:10, Jesus said, we should pray "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven". So, is it fair to say whenever God's will is done, His Kingdom has come and is present? if not, what was Jesus trying to tell us about how to pray?

Keeping the Sabbath tells people Who you Worship is the title of this thread.

It could and should be inclusive of How the Sabbath is kept tells people who you worship.

Someone elsewhere said
"Sabbath literally means saturday, which does not start in the middle of the night, aka midnight, it starts when the sun has gone down signaling the end of the day and the start of a new day.
They also said However, the one commandment that says to keep one day seperate from other days, really offends people. Holy means seperate.

I wonder how many people are aware of how many things have been written about this 24 hour period in a week....

Here are a handful of opinions and explanations.

The origin of Sabbath means to stop or cease and its meaning is rooted in God's rest following the six days of creation. Learn about Sabbath day meaning from the Bible.

The origin of the Hebrew sabbat [t'B;v] is uncertain, but it seems to have derived from the verb sabat, meaning to stop, to cease, or to keep. Its theological meaning is rooted in God's rest following the six days of creation ( Gen 2:2-3 ). The Greek noun sabbat [savbbaton] translates the Hebrew noun sabbat [t'B;v]. The noun form is used primarily to denote the seventh day of the week, though it may occasionally refer to the Sabbath week ( Lev 23:15-16 ) at the end of every seven Sabbaths or fifty days, or the Sabbath year ( Lev 25:1-7 ) in which the land was to be at complete rest.

Shabbat is the original Hebrew word for our English word sabbath. It comes from the root Shin-Beit-Tav and means "to cease, to end, to rest.". The word is invariably linked to the seventh day after the six days of creation

What Is the Sabbath Day? Definition & Command of Rest
The Sabbath is observed as a day of rest and worship, a time for spiritual renewal, communal worship, and a break from the regular routines of work.

Sabbath comes from the word Shabbath which essentially, as listed above, means "a day of rest." God commanded a day of rest because He wants us to trust Him, and taking a Sabbath helps keep us from idolizing work.

Shabbat (Hebrew: שַׁבָּת, also known as "Shabbos" or the "Sabbath") is the Jewish day of rest and celebration that begins on Friday before sunset and ends on the following evening after nightfall. It is ushered in with (late afternoon) candlelighting, prayers, and feasting on braided bread and other delicacies. And its end is marked with a multisensory ceremony as well

While many Christians refer to the Sabbath as the day they attend a weekly church service, the meaning is deeper. Sabbath is not another word for Sunday/Saturday or a worship service. The Hebrew word for Sabbath is Shabbat. It means "intermission," an interval between periods of activity, a pause.

Why is Deut 5 "Babble" Amo?

I've previously shown you where the SDA Pioneers plainly said that "THE SABBATH GOD" was a flesh god that had an actual body with parts. Ellen White said you are to nourish yourself on the Pioneers teaching that Ellen White confirmed was the truth of God. Well, Ellen indeed DID teach that Flesh father was not only an important doctrine for SDA's:

IT (flesh father doctrine) WAS / IS a PILLAR or FOUNDATION doctrine of the SDA Church. it's time you just rolled with it.
