Janine,
Well, I think your list just about managed to insult everyone, save Booty, Croc, and our Canadien friends (I know we have posters here from Canada!). And of course, Marc was spared. Perhaps that's because WV has been the brunt of too many of those shots in the past??
I think the one for Oregon is the funniest! Where's that baby rolling on the floor smiley when you need it!

I wonder why that is? Marc, does W.V. get left out of a lot of stuff?
I've seen several versions of this with West Virginia included ("One Big Happy Family-Really!") . We are always glad, though, when we do get left out. When we do, though, it's usually because people don't realize we're a state ("You're from Western Virginia? I've got a cousin in Richmond!"), which is why my suggested motto would be "a part of the union continually since the beginning (can the other Virginia say the same?)"
:saint:
I suspect some alphabetical mischief afoot.
Or maybe just forgetful... trailing an unheeded child or two behind her...
Humph. I saved that email. I'm gonna look & see if I've misplaced them, or if some heartless emailer dropped 'em...
Minnesota is always boasting 10,000+ lakes. Michigan has 11,000 + lakes.
And the difference between a pond and a lake is...?
Yeah, But Michigan is IN the lake. Minnesota has lakes in IT.
Oh what am I doing.....I'm not even a native Minnesotan. And I have a hard time getting pumped up over state who's University Mascot is a rodent.
Go Gophers??
Jerry....you win :D :D :D
Seriously though janine, the second largest lake in Minnesota, Lake Mille Lacs is 20 miles wide and 26 miles long. According to the DNR: [!--QuoteBegin--][/span]

Quote

[!--QuoteEBegin--]"Generally, a lake is an area of open, relatively deep water that is large enough to produce a wave-swept shore."
There are 11, 842 lakes in MN which have a surface area greater than 10 acres.

I received this list off the Internet in an email.
That means it's a realy truly true list, right?
Notice the complete and total absence of West Virginia.
I wonder why that is? Marc, does W.V. get left out of a lot of stuff?
Being a true Arkansan I grouse about Oklahoma but after driving 15 hours straight from Colorado that seemed be a 14 hour drive through Kansas, I told all my friends that Kansas was the state that made you glad to see the "Welcome to Oklahoma" sign.

Wisconsin and Wyoming are missing too...
it would appear that United States is an oxymoron. :D
I live in Minnesota now but I grew up on the Gulf coast (north end of Galveston Bay)
People in Minnesota just THINK they have mosquitoes. And there are none between October and April.
Maybe they mistake all that whining for actual mosquitoes

:noddingsmiley: :D :thumbs-up: :p
DNR puts the official count at just over 15,000 lakes in MN.
Ponds don't count ;)
Lake Michigan is a lake. What Minnesota has are ponds. LOL
