One thing I've seen that I've liked, on another site, is the way the members arrange to meet.  Some of them hold what amounts to reunions.  (Well, scandalous office-party-type gatherings, anyway...)

Of course, that particular site probably has 4,000 members to draw from.

We are apparently a more select group. :saint:

Keeping your email address private means nobody can see your address.  We can still email you from the GCM forum site, but we won't be able to add you into our address books so we can spam the dickens out of you.    :p   This probably also helps protect against your address getting picked up by professional spammers who have programs that pull addresses off of web pages. These  programs will search for anything that looks like an email address in the code and then add it to the spammers' address books.

Janine, I like the idea of getting together with others from GCM as well!

That's why God made filters and delete buttons.

Can we say "multiple email accounts"?

I knew we could!

I wish it was "doable." But since you see the posts by just scrolling down the page, it's hard to know what you read and what you didn't.

What I am working to do this week is to make several changes in the board while keeping everything the same. LOL That is much more difficult than it sounds.

Some changes will be having a calendar at the bottom of the board that shows who is having a birthday. There are several other good changes/upgrades that will happen too. Some of them are surprises. Ofcourse the profile fix is important, but very few people actually take the time to complete their profiles. It's a shame, because if people did put effort into their profiles it would be very cool. We could just click on profile and find out neat things about a person. Peter and I are working on it :D .

I was just thinking how neat it would be if we could search the user profiles by category...  like location, interests, etc.  Of course, that would mean some people would have to actually fill out their profiles instead of leaving everything blank.  Maybe there are some infrequent posters here who live near someone else's family... or in an area you might be moving to...  Wouldn't it be cool to be able to find out that kind of thing??

On a related note, I was just looking at my profile and noticed that it said I wished to keep my email address private.  Is this now the default setting?  I've received emails from the board in the past and don't remember ever changing the setting.

Oh, well I don't have to worry about that.  A job search service I subscribed to a couple of years ago already gave my email address to everyone in existence. :lookaround:

Lee,

On another forum I visited, they had a great feature that would be good to integrate on this board, if it was possible with the programs you run.

Here's what it was.  When you clicked on a thread, there was a link at the top of each thread that said, "Go to first unread post".  When you clicked on that, it would take you to the first post that you had not read.

I thought it was useful to keep you from having to scroll through the thread.

What do you think?  Is it doable?

I promise to fill out my profile as soon as that feature is fixed!   :D

Also, If I could wish for one thing it would be a spell check.   I know this may not be possible, but if it were available that would help me a lot - as my spelling is terrible.   :help:

Thanks, Lee, for all you do.
