I believe if we had not locked down (except nursing homes) these massive waves would not be happening now. The initial virus strain was less deadly than the delta, and the vaccines were for the alpha, and did not last long with the delta. Natural immunity and herd immunity (does not eliminate but reduces transmission rate) are real things. Our leaders have greatly extended this pandemic, and some of these leaders actions likely led to it in the first place.
