That was incredibly packed full of truth.  I think I will steal it, if you don't mind.

It is the greatest holiday, isn't it?  Thank you.

That's a good idea.  I'm always looking for short items for the bulletin, so if it's okay, I would also like permission to reprint this (I don't know why I don't consider stuff from this board more often.  I used something Maurine wrote earlier in the year, but other than that, I really haven't.)

Arkstfan! Great post. Hope you don't mind me stealing it. I don't know if you know much aboot "hooping" but that's what it sounds like. And this is how people would look if you ended your sermon with it at Metro...

Someone has probably worked something like this up before. I was going to end my sermonette (we've split tomorrow's lesson between three people) with this to lead into communion.

As I finished writing, this no longer fit so I cut it out but I thought I'd share it. Maybe some day I'll have another chance to use it.

Holidays.
Independence Day celebrates people acting on the human need for freedom.
Memorial Day celebrates those who died to protect that freedom
Veterans Day celebrates those who served to protect that freedom
Flag Day celebrates the symbol of our country
President's Day and King Day celebrate great leaders
Labor Day honors the average common working people
New Year's Day celebrates a new beginning
Christmas celebrates God coming to earth.
Easter celebrates Jesus showing that he was telling the truth about conquering death

Communion though is the greatest of Holidays.

When we celebrate communion it is Christmas because we remember God came to earth. It is Easter because we remember Jesus conquered death. It is Independence Day because we celebrate Jesus giving us freedom from Satan's grasp. It is Memorial Day because we remember Jesus gave his life for our freedom. It is Veteran's Day because we remember who fought for our freedom from sin. At communion we remember the cross, the symbol of the Kingdom of Heaven, it is our Flag Day. We remember the great leader who showed us the way to Heaven. We celebrate the common working man who saved us. It is our New Year's Day because we celebrate our new beginning

Go for it. I really wanted to use it tomorrow but just couldn't make it work with my lesson.

I love stumbling onto a different way to present the Lord's Supper. I ended up getting a slide from Heartlight.org because it fit the lesson better 1 John 4:10 (http://www.heartlight.org/gallery/208.html).

I am watching a very "high church" Christmas Eve service on television.  I am very glad that I attend a church that is contemporary - that tries to take the timeless truths of the gospel and make them relevant to our generation.

The opera style singing, robes, etc. are way too much for me.

Although, I need to say that there are probably a lot of people that enjoy worshipping God in the "high church" way.  I'm just glad God doesn't want us to be cookie cutter Christians.

If you think it will help you present the good news then by all means use it. Don't care if you say it's from Mark Ferguson or just something you found on the net.

We do a little 'whooping it up' at CrossWalk but we are still carrying a lot of business suit and solemn somberness baggage so we have a way to go.

Whoops from those assembled are nice, but I can really imagine it delivered in a cadence, with a raspy indrawn whoop of breath from the speaker punctuating the lines...

Now, will I give it to our church sec'y for the bulletin?

Or to my husband as an enticement to "put on a tie per elders' orders, fer Christ's sake, so you can use this during the Lord's Supper!..."

Or, will I squirrel it away to use next time I speak somewhere?
