We took our group to see it when it came out. Had devotions afterward, but that was almost a year ago. Can't help you out much. Sorry.

I don't know if this is helpful or not, depends on how close the book is to the movie, but anyway, fwiw, here's a link to Nicholas Sparks' website's A Walk To Remember section ... has background info and discussion questions re. the book.
NicholasSparks.com: Novels: A Walk To Remember (http://www.nicholassparks.com/Novels/AWalkToRemember/Index.html) Thought I'd throw that one in though since it is from the author's site.
I also found this, which might be helpful too, maybe more so since it's specifically for a youth Bible study. I admit I haven't done more than skim it at this hour. If you want to check it out (it's a pdf file), it's at this address: Walk To Remember Guide (http://www.interlinc-online.com/docs/walktorememberguide.pdf)
If you've already found these, oops! Nevermind! ;)[/quote]
Miss Marple?
Just checking. Thank's for the research. I knew it was based on his novel, but we haven't been able to get a copy of the book... yet. My understanding is that the movie is fairly close considering they had to transfer it from 1958 to modern day in order to save a buck or two. Sparks is one of the commentators on the DVD and generally a writer on does that when they like the outcome.
But thanks again for the websites. They will be most useful.

Spoiler listed above!
Typically, I'm not either. Much to my wife's dismay.

Barb!
Thanks for the hot inside tip! I was just checking out the PDF file and it's pefect. Thank you so much. Now, do you charge an hourly rate for your research expertise? :)

But Dear Swami, the movie has a choir in it. A choir! It would be better to have a ton of cuss words and stuff than the scourge of evil, the deadly choir!! :D
SoaPMan ... since no one else has taken up your offer expressed in the subtitle of this topic, I'd just like to add that ... yes, I would like a peanut, thanks! :yummy:
[aside: just looked at the clock when it said 11:11! that's supposedly spiritually significant somehow ... anyway...]
How'd it go with the film?
Thanks for telling! I'm happy to hear it went so well, not that I'm surprised!
Wife and I are showing A Walk to Remember to the youth group this Saturday. Anybody who has seen it I'd like to hear from you re: talking points. We stayed up late last night watching it again, taking notes.. but we want to cover everything we can.
Let's hear it!

I am not a big fan of the fall in love then find out she has cancer movies.
I saw Sweet November in the theater with my wife and didn't like that either. But it was her turn to pick.
LOL, SoapMan! Glad I could help, me and Google. I love digging for stuff, it's fun.
Let us know how it goes!
 Soap man,
I applaude this movie because of it's respect shown to a preacher of the gospel. It showed his belief system with respect and it showed his daughter as one who did not rebell against religion but rather it showed that religion was an influence to cause a rascal to come to acceptance.
When Hollywood produces such movies,it is my opinion that we need to show our support or else quit critizing the bad ones.
Just some thoughts that I would talk over with a youth group...Since I'm 68 years old they probably wouldn't listen..hehe
God bless,Charles
JB,
Watch it there boy...don't stir up the ol Swami...hehe
God bless,Charles

The kids loved it and we had over an hour of discussion afterward that spilled into our Sunday morning class. I had no opposition to showing the film... even if did include a choir. :D
I think I'll show them "Remember the Titans" next month. "Walk" and "Titans" both address issues peripheral to what we are studying right now (without completely dumbing down the reality of the H.S. environment), which is Frank Peretti's book "The Wounded Spirit." I think that book is a must for teens today and there is a short, readers-digest-condensed version in booklet form called "No More Victims" that about 65 pages in case you have problems with A.D.D. (Of course with our group it's their leader that has A.D.D., so what's a boy to do?)
Thanks for asking!

I'm sorry though... Dumbo took all the peanuts.
