Ok, here's the sounding board for the new forum. Let me know what you like, maybe even what you don't like (as if there's anything you don't like :D) and what questions you have concerning new features and mechanics.
Note: The smileys from the old board will be moved over tomorrow or the next day.
Also, I've put the spell checker here because it has been a very popular request. Please make good use of it.
So far, so good Lee!
Thanks for all your hard work on here!
;D

Ugh. I assume the spell-check thingy only does stuff if you ask it to? ;)
I notice the [color] - close color thing is not working for me -- something still to tweak, or my silly computer?
looks good!
this is the third incarnation of gcm that i remember. where there more?
will there be a 'new post' search button?
mr gloom called and said he likes the smite feature, but can't log on. is he gone forever, or should he just re-register?? he's such a sweet guy.
dj :)
I really like it, especially how much easier it is to edit text. David, I think I'm going blind. Once yesterday I saw a "view posts since last visit" or something like that, but I can't find it today. The "New Posts" button is really the only thing I'm missing, but maybe I'm just not seeing it?
I like the Delete feature. I just had a double-post oops and was able to delete it/remove the bad post.
Oh, and how about that cool edit icon to the right that lets you edit right in the thread? Cool.
I think this new look isa really neat. Have a lot of stuff to learn to use.
To answer a few things...
Tell Mr. Gloom to try deleting all his cookies by going to his desktop, right clicking on the Internet Explorer icon, selecting "properties" and then clicking on the "delete cookies" button.
As for the color tag thing, I'll see about fixing that today.
To read the lastest post, scroll down on the homepage to "Forum Stats" and you'll see the "view the most recent posts" option.
Any other questions?
Oh, I love the new look. It is just great.
Thanks so much, Lee.
Peggy :)
Who is having trouble changing colors?
It seems to be working fine.
Doesn't it?
What you do is type the words you want and then highlight them. Then you go to the "change color" drop-down menu and select the color you want.
What's the word on this with those of you having problems?
The spell check did not work in PM.

Does it work for you in the regular forum area? If it works there and not in the PM section, it could be your browser. Is anyone else having trouble with the spell checker?
My notes are gone...
Kudos on the conversion of the discussion forum from one coding mechanism (Perl/CGI) to another (PHP). Well done!

Thanks Todd. Something tells me I could have used your help.

I guess I shouldn't thank Lee for being instrumental in running this forum.
::)
Thanks for everything, even the stuff which I have no idea what they are for , but especially for the spell checker.
The spell checker on my Google toolbar at home worked well, but my office system didn't allow it to work, meaning that I had to cut and paste to and from Word.
Now, if I only remember to use it...
How does one search the membership list now? Or is that no longer possible?
yeah, and where's the quick-and-easy "new posts" feature?!?
You can still see where the "new posts" are. You just have to go about it differently. On the main page (http://www.gracecentered.com/christian_forums/ (http://www.gracecentered.com/christian_forums/)), an icon on the left of each forum indicates whether there are any new posts in the forum. Click in each forum, and you'll see a blue "new" indicator next to each thread that is new.
admin (Lee):
By the way, I notice a discrepancy in the icon for new posts in the forums on the main page. The bottom of the page indicates that this icon shows up for new posts...
But, the icon that actually appears to the left of the forums with new posts is this...
I know that's minor. But, the icon with the red cross would stand out a little better. Also, if you have the ability to edit the image or choose another image... a colored outline around the icon might be even better.
Another way to see new posts is to go to the main page and scroll down to the bottom where Forum Stats section and click the "View the most recent posts on the forum (http://www.gracecentered.com/christian_forums/index.php?action=recent)" option.
That's sort of better and sort of worse than the old way. I'll have to get used to it.
No-eth. I'd like to see the spellchecker fix THAT!! LOL HAHAHA!
Hi There! As a God loving Non-Christian man married to a women who has evolved over the years to become a conservative-right born-again evangelist who believes everything that is sold on TBN as God inspired universal truths and who insists that I to must convert to those ideas of what God is... or suffers the consequences of her leaving me and taking our three children with her. I am miffed.
But more importantly, for the love of God, family, and home and everything else that's at stake I feel pressed to find out where this irrational fear and contempt for differing beliefs could possibly stem from. Consequently, in that quest I came upon this web-site and Al Maxey's "Unequally Yoked Together. Does 2 Corinthians Apply To Marriage
The only comment I can say is that I have prayed for you and your family.
Without knowing you or the situation personally, I fail to know how to respond to your request.
I am so sorry for you and your whole family.
I pray that God will open your heart so that you will find answers that you are looking for, even if you don't know what they are yet, He does.
I wouldn't know how to do anything by myself, since Jesus is the Rock on which I stand. It's hard to address any issue such as this without knowing Him. I believe that is the root of your dilemma, by what you are saying here. But I doubt that you will be able to find that for sure unless you open up to really hear that.
Blessings on your whole family,
Memmy
