I have a question: Since God created the world in 6 days and on the 7th He rested, then since a day is like a thousands years to God, then could it be that the world will end in 6,000 years and the last thousand will be Christians reign? ???
Since the OT is a shadow of the realities of Jesus Christ, then why couldn't the 7 day creation be a shadow of the length of time we live on earth? Your thoughts. ::smile::
Carico,
I would have to say no.
For one thing, not every single event in the Old Testament is a foreshadow of what was/is to come in the New.
For another thing, the phrase about a day being as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day is not to be taken that literally as much as to just be a figurative expression of God's relationship to time. Use a concordance and see how the phrase "a thousand" is used and notice that it is by and large a figurative expression.
Read 2Peter 3:8 in context it make much more sense.

It's certainly possible that the 7 day creation isn't a shadow of how long life will last, but it is a shadow of the 7 day week, and the sabbath day being Jesus Christ. I just threw this out as a possibility, which I still haven't rejected because it certainly makes sense. ::smile::

All that means is that God's time isn't our time. A thousands years pass like a day to him. But that still doesn't exclude the 7 day creation correlation to how long life will last. I admit, that my "theory" isn't biblical, but neither is it unbiblical. I just threw it out as food for thought. ::smile::

Its an interesting thought, especially for a young earth creationist.
I also appreciate your views of biblical authority, I find them very encouraging.
You should make an introduction.

Yes, we can be
so encouraged knowing that we do have one place where we can find the absolute truth in this mixed up wordl!
Good idea. I'll introduce myself. Thanks. ::smile::

If fits in very neatly, The 7th day rest being Christ's thousand year reign. I like it. ::smile::

That assumes you do the thousand-year reign. Which I don't.

Sure why not!
But when I think of man's history going much farther beyond what they've gone it gives me the absolute creeps. With some scientists trying to set themselves up as gods with genetic engineering, cloning and life sustaining practices I can't hardly comprehend what heinous evils will be on Earth when Christ comes (I'm praying it'll be much sooner than 3000 years from now!)
I've always wondered about the Mayan calendar and the 2012 thing myself... I'm sure that year will probably breeze by like Y2K did though.

No, we're not supposed to predict the hour. In my opinion, that's nonsense to pick a year. It's probably nonsense for me to have drummed this up also, I just thought it was an interesting correlation.
But I'm courious about your 3,000 year comment. Why 3,000 years, specifically?
: Carico Thu Aug 23, 2007 - 08:12:16
Read Isaiah 2-5. ::smile::
Isaiah 2-5: Judah's messed up, God's noticed, God's gonna punish them, God's gonna have a remnant.
So?
no millenium, in the millenialist way.

Here's what the Bible says
2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
How will it come? as a thief in the night; unexpectedly
Will it be a secret to some? heavens shall pass away with a great noise: Nope
What will be left behind? and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up: Nothing

Who knows? I think I misread your theory... my point was I really don't want the end times to wait around to long considering how evil the world is becoming. Its been evil in the past for sure but not in these new ways... its like the tower of Babel all over again nowadays, but the tower is on steroids.

Amen, brother! ::smile::I'm frankly
amazed at why God hasn't wiped us all off the face of the earth years agao,
without a free pardon, the way humans desecrate His word, curse His name and defile His creation. End times can't come soon enough for me. ::frown::
