Vitamin D is getting more and more attention for its ability to actually KILL breast cancer cells.  This was on ABC news last week.
The thing is, it is better to get Vitamin D from sunshine than from supplements and also, you can't get vitamin D thru glass.  Glass filters out all UVB rays so you need to actually be outside during the hours or 10- 2 to get the best rays.

I saw the same report on NBC.  As you can guess, those warning against skin cancer are saying "wait a minute."

Kind of a vicious circle, ain't it?

In the realm of medicine it is an axiom that one must weigh the benefits of a procedure or treatment against the risks.  Too much sun, for example, can cause skin cancer, so you need to get enough for the vitamin D effect without getting enough to endanger your skin.  That might be a rather difficult trick to pull off.

You can say that again!  It really frustrates me that it totally depends on who you listen to, and often (especially depending on the particular 'specialty' of the experts in question) they tend to give polar opposite suggestions.

So how do we figure out who we should be listening to?   ???

Now there's the $64.000 question.  Trying to get two "experts" to agree is like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.  I got the original information in this thread from WebMD, which seems to be a pretty decent site.
