Hummm....never thought of it that way, but its not. It is a sci-fi game site.
I know... I looked at it.
It looks pretty kewl.
How is it a role-playing game?
Yep, Its one of my favorite MMO's out there, even more then WoW. It's fantastically vast and complicated and has a great community. One server for millions of players as soon as I get good internet I'm going to play again.

It's not a RPG like DnD, it's an RPG like you choose how to play the game. Your not told that you have to follow this story line or that, you choose your own way.

How is it a role-playing game?
Role playing is an option in the game. All four of the races in the game have role playing corporations. Eve provides a frame work for the role playing by making news releases about events among the NPC corporations.
Recently the company supported a novelist who released a novel named Eve: The Empyrean Age. The book really advanced the story line of the Eve universe and CCP (the makers of Eve) mirrored events in the book in the game.
You can play the game for free for 14 days. The client can be downloaded for free from the website.
