: Waiting on the Lord when it comes to marriage
: LadyDora Sat Sep 20, 2008 - 17:48:27
I must say I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo fustrated. I'm 27 and I have been with a man for the last 20 months. From the beginning we have known that eventually we will get married. Now he is saying that we need to focus on the Lord (which is a great thing) and not our relationship. But I'm having a realllllyyy hard time doing that. If this would have happened two years ago I would have been fine with it because I didnt want to get married at all. But now all I want to do is marry him and be his wife and have a family. And all of a sudden the Lord is putting everything on hold. I have never been so frustrated in my entire life. I have waited and kept myself for a long time and I feel that I'm ready! What do I do to handle the physical and emotional stress of this. I feel upset with the Lord that he's making me wait again. I know alot of young christian people go through this..SO PLEASE HELP...give me a word, bible verses, your own experiences...SOMETHING!

Thanks,

Lady D

This is hard without knowing the dynamics of your lives and your relationship.

Are you evenly yoked?

Is it the Lord guiding your boyfriend to do this or is this just your boyfriend doing this?  I would think being that it's "focusing on the Lord", that God is behind it; but I have known clever men to come up with good excuses too.  Without knowing about him, if he's had other signs of questioning your relationship, etc., it's hard to say.

The part about "focusing on the Lord" I can see God doing, "not your relationship" is where I wonder where it's coming from.  If your boyfriend felt God blessed your union then I would think both could be done at the same time; in fact, a wonderful opportunity to grow together.  So does "not your relationship" come from his words, or yours? and what does this mean?  That he wants time apart, things to stay the same just not progressing?

I was 22 when I got married the first time and 34 when I got married again. I should have stayed single; I would have been much happier.

Marriage is not an invention of man. God instituted marriage. According to God's plan, man and woman together form the unit of humanity. A man or a woman alone is only part of an entirety.

From the beginning we have known that eventually we will get married.

How could you know that, from the beginning?  Perhaps you rushed into this relationship, or didn't truly get to know each other.  When choosing a marriage partner, it should ideally be after a long period of time....so your statement sounds like you kindof started off wrong here...

I noticed the google thing the day they posted, and figured they must be in this together.  Or possibly it is all the same person?  They all pretty much only posted once... and then stopped.
