Ok so I feel kind of weird asking this, but I just asked a girl out on a date, not necessarily to be my girlfriend even though I do like her. We are just going to go see a movie. Would holding hands be too much at this point? Especially since I haven't asked her to be my girlfriend yet? Or do most girls expect to hold hands on the first date?
I just don't want to push her into an uncomfortable situation. But she knows it is a date and is perfectly fine with it.
Yes you can hold hands.
Aw, you made me smile today. Yes, hold her hand. ::smile::
love,
Sopranette
Take her hand! Chivalry should not be dead! Don't let the modern world confuse you about romance.
Open her door, pull out her chair, offer your hand/arm. Be a servant to her and keep romance alive! Nerves are normal, just be confident in being a man of God and a gentleman. Have fun!
Too cute. I think holding hands is alright. If she likes you, then this will be welcome... Be careful not to get too carried away with kissing/making out...which can lead to wanting more. (not saying this will happen on your first date, but it could happen on your second ....third...etc. I think one has to be careful about "passionate kissing". And definitely avoid having sex!!! Not until you're married according to the bible. Too much heartache and intimacy involved if you're not married, believe me, it has happened to me. It is not fun going thru a breakup (when sex was involved).

Hehe, women want equality in everything...except for when the check hits the table.
Ah well, I paid out double for my years of dating, if you can afford it do it, but if your broke reach an understanding ::tippinghat::
Well, holding hands is good, but it just depends what you're thinking about when you start holding hands. Personally, when I do go on dates in the future, even if the girl is my girlfriend, I'm still going to hold it off until the next date. Don't forget Shakepere's Romeo and Juliet, where it is mentioned that if you love too soon, then there will be no love left in the future (or something like that).
That's totally fine and all, but personally hand holding feels like something I'd do only if I really knew the person well. Even seems more intimate than kissing or hugging. Maybe that's just me.
But it's sweet that you are concerned and asking about that. I think it shows a good heart and a considerate person.

I held hands with two guys in high school. One was the Center, the other was Left Tackle.

As long as youdid not clean a fish beforehand and your hand is not slimey then holding hands is fine. But if she says no then do not push it.

This kinda gave me th giggles. Is that like bashing her head on the door post when you carry her across the threshhold? Who's she dating? Big Moose?

**Manufacturer's warning: Chivalry does require coordination and those without may inadvertently make their gals miss the chair entirely or crash right into the door**
For what everyone is saying on paying for her.
I suggest you offer, but if she says more than once or twice its fine, she will pay for herself, let her. Be chivelrous and romantic, but getting petty over money is a sure thing to failure.
Now just forget everything anyone says, the more you think about it, the more nervous you will be!
