GOSSIP IS CRUEL
_________________
Gossip is cruel to the soul
I have come to see,
for the Lord despises it,
and all who do it have his enmity.
Gossip is cruel to anyone involved
I have come to know,
and I would avoid it
that my love for my neighbor
might start to grow.
Gossip is cruel;
this fact has been brought home to me;
I would not hide a thing,
and be brought low by hypocrisy.
Gossip is cruel,
for the spirit has made it known.
I would not take part,
and I would depart,
for I feel the bad effect
all the way to my bones.
Gossip is cruel,
and love is lacking I am sure.
We see through a darkened glass
that makes all things obscure,
and I would live in my Lord,
and live as one who is mature.
Gossip is cruel,
and demeaning as well,
for we hide our resentment
within this fragile shell.
Gossip is cruel,
so the spirit has revealed,
and my lips have been sealed.
I would not speak again,
if it revealed words of sin.
