: God of War 3
: fanuvmxpx Fri Feb 20, 2009 - 16:15:03
Well, I finally went to youtube and watched all the cut scenes from God of War I & II to get a feel for the story. Wow, it had more twists than a twizzlers.

Now Kratos is charging up to Olympus with the Titans to repeat the ancient war of the gods...the storyline on these games is incredible...especially if you like mythology.

Anyone play these games? I just watched the videos as I can only play 1 game at a time right now (not a lot of time anymore).

Well, my friend has it and I've seen him play it.  It looks like fun and it will be a big step for Sony's PS3 when God of War 3 hits the current gen consoles.  I just hope that it pushes the PS3 to the limits.  The gameplay and button sequences look sweet, but the only thing that worries me is the "sex mini games" that they always have in each game.  They said that this one is going to be better than ever and with it coming to the best graphics console to date, I'm worried.  I can't get M rated games right now, but I was playing to once I go to college and move out of the house.  GameInformer's latest issue had a lot of info on the game.  You can get the magazine at your local GameStop.

Yeah, it would be nice if that took out the sex mini game in this one. Anyway, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only Christian likes the God of War series.

MegaJedi is a huge fan of the God of War series.  I don't know much about it, but I watch some videos on YouTube from time to time.  Do you own a PS3 dothackzero?  If so, add my PSN: handn4hand

Hello all.  I just got the latest Game Informer and to my enjoyment God of war 3 was on the cover.

Here is what we know so far,
The sex mini-game will stay.  They said they are changing it up a bit though.

You can actually take control of many of the monsters.  They describe you stabbing a cyclops in the neck and he runs forward attackg other creatures..

No more 15 - 20 enemies at once.  The number of enemies at one time will greatly grow.

New weapons will include the Cestus.  for close quarter combat.  And the Fire Bow.

The game will be great.  They have been checking out the PS3  since before GoW 2 was released.  and they feel they can do the series and game justice.

But this will also end the trilogy.  they will not kill the franchize.  But this was only ment to be a trilogy.

So does this mean that they will be making another mythology based trilogy after this game with the God of War engine?

That is possible
but also Kratos is the unofficial masscot for Sony, so he may somehow be involved

So if this is true that Kratos, being the Sony mascot, is going to appear in possibly another version of the franchise, then Kratos most likely won't die at the end of God of War 3.  Interesting...I kind of hope I didn't ruin the game for you guys if this is true =p

Anyways, Mega, I got that same issue and it looks so awesome!  They are going to push the PS3 to its limits and it sounds like there will be some puzzle solving along the adventure.  They also mentioned that taking control of the monsters might aid in the puzzle solving.  Some more good news that I found in the issue is that they are making another Ghost Recon title coming out in March of 2010!  I can't wait!

Kratos has died several times now lol. Which is the funny part of Greek mythology. But in answer to your question, and call me crazy, but I believe some type of "truce" will be formed between the Titans, gods & Kratos. I have a feeling that Zeus will be allowed to live, as well as Gaia. The three sisters already said Zeus will be victorious...how could he "win" dead?

Wow, that sounds really confusing.  Zeus will win...but it also sounds like Kratos will win.  I have no idea what went on in the series so far, but it sounds to me as if the battle has been predicted.  If the prediction is right and Kratos doesn't die and they do form a "truce" or whatever, then maybe Zeus will "win" emotionally/spiritually or something of the sort.

What if Kratos and the remaining gods he has not yet killed form a pact and turn on the Titans.  In a battle that will never end.

I don't see how it can end...Kratos stoled his life thread from the three sisters.

Whoa, a gaming place. I didn't notice this before.

I have hundreds of games under my belt, and the ORIGINAL God of War is in my top 20. In my mind it's a timeless epic.

I HATED God of War 2 and Chains of Olympus.

The Matrix Reloaded started the miserable "two-part sequel" trend and spin-offs (nah, not the "Empire Strikes Back"), and like that sequel, God of War 2 was just a "bigger, better" God of War, where an extraordinary game should have had an extraordinary sequel.

From a "Christian standpoint," GoW2 completely lost the moral base that the original had. Kratos becomes more self-aware through the original and discovers that--while he has some ugly stuff to fight pretty intensely--he says a line like "by the gods, what have I become?" Some truly sincere development happens, especially in that POWERFUL storytelling device (another great example of videogame storytelling!) toward the end. A game that I consider revolutionary for showing a struggle inside and out and managing to make the player feel it. All the (different) creators of GoW2 did was re-inject the guy with more demons to make an excuse for doing the thing all over again.

It kind of reminds me of how Jack Sparrow was ruined in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequels. From a checkered, confused personality--though one that develops with Kratos--and just went with the stuff that made him a straight-up jerk. It's no fun playing as this guy anymore, to me. I guess I could use my imagination and ignore the context, but then, that's why videogames aim for more than just lines and dots duking it out.

Like I said, the profoundly ill-conceived "two-part sequel" stuff limits what the creators can do, and yet again, it's new management. I'm not hopeful for GoW3.
