: Best shooters? (spanning all consoles, PC, and handhelds)
: wolflet7 Sat Feb 21, 2009 - 15:24:31
So what are your favorite shooters?  The PS3 is getting a bunch of awesome shooters, such as the already released Resistance 2 and the upcoming Killzone 2, which looks great!  On my PS3, the shooters I have are: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Medal of Honor Airborne, Battlefield Bad Company, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.  Not that many, but still good.

Eagerly awaiting shooters: Battlefront 3, the next Medal of Honor title (rumored 2009), the next Ghost Recon title, Uncharted 2 Among Thieves, and some other games I can't think of right now.

Eagerly wanting: Call of Duty 4, Resistance 1 and 2, and Killzone 2.

I really hope Sony makes more sci-fi shooters like Resistance and Killzone.  Those games are probably the best of Sony's, with the exception of Metal Gear Solid 4.

1. Doom (PC) sorta started it all
2. Golden Eye (N64) invented multiplayer & re-popularized the 1st person shooter
3. Delta Force (PC) probably the best military shooter, good for troops
4. Unreal tournament (PC) best modern multiplayer until...
5. Halo (Xbox) the undisputed first person shooter champion

**Unreal tournament still has the best announcer of all time IMO

I played Unreal Tournament (the first one) at my friend's house when I was about 7 or 8 for the first time on his computer and man was it sweet!  We took turns going through the story and he was stuck on the 3rd level I think.  It was the one with only you and the girl.  He got pwned and asked if I could kill her for him.  Well, that's pretty much how I got in the first person shooter genre.  The last guy was pretty hard and I was the only one out of our friends that could beat him.

1. Wolfenstien 3D (started it all)
2. Doom
3. Turok
4. Resistance Fall of Mankind
5. Goldeneye
6. S.W.A.T. 4 on PC
7. Noah's Ark 3D (A CHRISTian parody of Wolfenstien 3D No killing involved.  You feed animals to put them asleep.)
8. Prey
that is all I can think of.  I tried Halo 3 ended up using it for paintball target I disliked it that much.

I heard some really mixed reviews of the second one.  First off, I heard it was much better than the first and then I heard that the first was much better than the second.  Either way, if my mom lets me, I'm going to buy them both.

Well I just got Resistance Fall of Man about 2 weeks ago and it is awesome!  One of the best stories and I like how the game blends in with the story so much that it doesn't feel like they are trying to get you from one place to another.  There are real reasons why you go the places you do.  I loved the weapons, the enemy AI (how ruthless they are, especially on hard.  I even failed a couple times on co-op with my friend), and the multiplayer, even though barely anybody plays.

The second on looks better than the first one, but I'm not sure if my mom will let me get it.  I got lucky with getting the first one!

Although FPS games tend to give me vertigo, I would say Halo.

Of course, there's also Duck Hunt. :)

FPS?

Half-Life!!!!!!
Halo series (2 and 3 for multiplayer)
Goldeneye
Deus Ex

Call of Duty 4, in some ways . . . Bioshock was also quite good. Yeah, Unreal Tournament is also still just about the roof for awesome.
