: History ....Could Save Mankind
: 3AM Tue Oct 20, 2009 - 11:29:06
There is a old saying: "Those who fail to learn from History, are doomed to repeat it".

This can also apply to an individuals personal history, as well as to Nations.

The Bible, is God's way of letting lessons be learned, thru other people errors.

"This is why God has given so many examples showing the results of even one wrong act.
From the sad story of that one sin which "brought death into the world and all our woe, with loss of Eden," to the record of him who for thirty pieces of silver sold the Lord of glory, Bible biography abounds in these examples, set up as beacons of warning at the byways leading from the path of life".  {Ed 150.3}

Leading men of Bible history have sinned grievously.
Their sins are not concealed, but faithfully recorded in the history of God's church, with the punishment from God, which followed the offenses.

These instances are left on record for the benefit of after generations, and should inspire faith in the word of God, as a faithful history.

The question is:  "Will we learn from God's word ?"

OR... repeat history ?

It is the curse of mankind that we simply cannot learn from history, and, ultimately repeat it.  Looking, for example, at the US today, it really is not hard to tell where we are headed.  A basic knowledge of history tells us that.  The tragedy is that it does not have to happen.

Or does it?

The Bible tells us what the future looks like, and what is in store for us all.  THe only real questions are 1) When, and 2) Are you ready?

It is the curse of mankind that we simply cannot learn from history,
I disagree with that.
It is not that we 'cannot  learn' BUT rather some will not learn.

Saying that we 'cannot learn' removes any responsibility from ourselves making it see to be not our fault.

BUT, saying we will not learn is saying that we could learn, but choose not to.

We all live under the Father's Law of Cause and Effect. This was reafirmed by Christ in His "Yee reap what yee sow."

Christ gave us the way to live and prosper under the Law through His teachings and parables.

History and the studying of it, can as 3 am stated can save mankind It is written of the Elijah spirit to come that sons will be joined to fathers, the celebration of ancestory. History can and I believe will be our teacher.

Thank you for posting this thought. I know where it came from.

Point taken.  A mistatement on my part.  I should have said "will not' instead of 'cannot"

I've heard it said many times "This world is going to hell".  Well maybe, but I'd like to think of it as "Heaven is coming to this world".
We are the ambassadors of Christ. We have the Kingdom of God within us. We are to shine our light out into this world and be the beacon of hope.
I for one am so tired of the doom and gloom the media is feeding us each day. It can get even a on fire Christian discouraged if he listens long enough.
We have our hope in Christ, and we are to share that hope with as many others as possible.
There are plenty of hurting people in this world that need something to help them. They are turning everywhere looking for that hope to be happy, to make their lives better.  We know as followers of Christ, what they really need is Jesus.
Let's all do our part as believers to minister to a dieing world.

More Wealth and Riches in your life!

Even better will we be led by His Spirit as His word encourages us.
