: geek squad?
: debra Thu Oct 07, 2010 - 20:01:20
I am clueless when it comes to computers. I am hoping somebody can help me with this. I am on my desktop, running XP, and log in, no problems.

I can't log in on my laptop, running windows 7. When I try, I get a blank page. I tried the "stay logged in", on this desktop, hoping it would also keep me logged in on the laptop, but no, it still won't let me log in.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I enter my name and password, and all I get is a blank page. help?   ::pondering::

Go to control panel. Go to User Accounts. Once there set up your user login info.

I don't see a control panel. All I can find is profile and that doesn't help.

I cannot log in on my laptop to access it anyway.

I log in and I get a blank page. I don't know if it is a site issue or my laptop doing it.

I have clicked "stay logged in" on this computer and it still doesn't keep me logged in on the laptop.

This computer is on it's last leg and if I cannot find a solution to logging in on my laptop, I cannot use this site, and I want to use this site.

You wont be able to login from one computer to another. You must set up a user account on your windows 7 laptop.

Depending on its settings. Highlight the start button...this will bring up a screen with programs etc... you will see "Control panel" click that. It will give you another list. Find "User account control" "UAC" it may even be in "pc security" once you are on screen for user accounts you will see several options-one of which is to set up a user account.

I know nothing about computers. Are you saying that I have to make a whole new account on my laptop?

I can't access the control panel because it sees me as "guest". It has my name and password saved, and I click login and still get a totally blank page.   ::frustrated::

Did you buy the laptop brand new or did someone give it to you?

It is new. My desktop is old and on it's last legs. So, I went from XP to windows 7. I am not happy.  ::frustrated::

I wish Bill Gates would pick one and leave it alone. No, I wish I could afford a mac.  ::whistle::

If I have to make a separate account, won't the server flag me as having a duplicate account/isp?

Ok. If your laptop is new. The first time you started it should have asked you to create an "administrator account=
Your user account with login".
Why it says you are a guest is probably because you skipped past that first part at some time.

So if you follow the instructions...click start button...see control panel and clck it...scroll til you see user account control...there you will be able to set your administrator settings-your login and password and all kinds o stuff.

Yes I have a password and administrator, ect. That isn't the problem. I can log in to all my other sites. It is just this one. I log in and get a blank page.

I tried to make a new account but as I expected, it flagged it and wouldn't go through.

I have no idea why or what to do. Maybe God is telling me to get lost. I don't know. But I am going to have to switch to the new one completely soon and will no longer be able to use this site and that is upsetting. I don't know why I get a blank page. I just cannot get in.

Oh> I thought you were meaning you cant login to your pc.
Why you are getting a blank page login to this site I dont know. Maybe a moderator can help with that.

Note: If you have made other logins to your pc you should be able to delete them. But make sure you don't delete your administrator login.

Maybe the problem is because your desktop pc is still logged in to this site and you need to logout so that you can login to this site with your laptop.

::shrug:: worth a try??

I am logged out on the laptop. I can only log in on my desktop, and I don't stay logged in. I log out. I guess I am out of luck.

I hate to lose this site but it is what it is. I have no idea why I get a blank screen.

Thanks for trying to help.

Debra, that's odd. Have you tried using another browser? For example, have you tried using Google Chrome, which can be downloaded at http://www.google.com/chrome/

If you know how to use Internet Explorer to navigate the Internet, it works in very much the same way.

Please try that and tell me if you still can't access this site. Then we'll go from there until we find a solution.

I have firefox, chrome, and explorer. All give me a blank page when I log in.  All my other sites log in, but this one won't.

I don't know if the issue is windows 7 or the site. I tried unblocking popups, checked my security, ect, nothing.

I appreciate your help. But I cannot figure it out.

I am out with this last post.

thanks everyone for my time here. This is a good site.

A completely blank page deb? Or does it show an SWF error message? From time to time the sites server reboots so repeated attempts may bring you in? A white screen or black screen when you try login from your laptop?

It comes up completely blank. It has the site addy in the box on the left side of the tool bar. Nothing else. No error code, no "server is busy", ect. Just blank.

I am logging off this thing now so won't be able to reply again, but will read as a "guest" if anyone can figure it out.

thanks for trying to figure it out.  ::smile::

Are you saying that on your laptop you can view the site as a guest? But cannot view it when you login from your laptop?

It maybe a cookie setting but I really don't understand how those work.

It let me in!  I don't know why it kept giving me a blank page, but it logged me in tonight. I hope it will let me in again.   ::bowing::
