I like many in the Christian Singles thread long to get married and have children. Just like the rest of the girls I've been praying since I was a little girl for my knight in shining armor. Recently (within the past year) I have done some soul searching within myself and with God to figure out how to pacify this need.
Here are some thoughts that I believe God has comforted me with.
Most of my friends (both saved and unsaved) are divorced and most of them claim they got married too soon, or didn't wait for the one God had in store for them. This is a huge concern for me because I strongly believe in commitment to both the marriage and my partner.
I personally believe that I still have a lot to do in strengthening my relationship with God before I can be a good wife and mother.
God is also forming and shaping the relationship between himself and the one he has chosen for me.
In other words the one God has in store for myself and I are still a work in progress. I believe God is molding us for eachother.
I have great faith that God has the perfect person for me and if I am to be single for the rest of my life I will be satisfied with God alone.

I hope this post may encourage some of you and will help pacify your frets. As far as praying is concerned I found Mathew 7:7-11 very encouraging. Also remember God doesn't always answer "yes" to every prayer. There is always "no", and "Not yet" and I hope for all of us that it is the "Not Yet." What most of us forget on a daily basis is that we don't see the whole picture but God does and this is what has helped me with my patience in what seems to be the never ending search.

That's good, MP . . . welcome. Please have a good time, here, while you grow and discover all that God has for you. I can think I have a lot of understanding about how to get connected with the right person for marriage. But God is so more than we are, and His ways are "past finding out," we have in Romans 11:33. So, now I think I mainly need to simply trust Him, and not be trying so much to explain what I and others need to do, etc., but openly discover how You please to share with us, LORD, and correct us and heal us and bring us to all that You have for us . . . while making us pleasing to You, more and more in Your love's "incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in" Your sight (in 1 Peter 3:4).
For some time, I have been "window shopping" for a wife, checking out thirty or more women, over the years. But now I'm more into first sensing for God and how He rules me in His peace > "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15) And so, if I'm getting *confused* about a certain woman . . . "God is not the author of confusion" works for me ::smile:: (1 Corinthians 14:33). If my thinking is getting into confusion, then I would say my thinking is a conversation with the devil . . . especially if with my thinking about someone, I am stinking about not getting what I want with her! Because if I am loving in God's way, I am not going to be trying to *use* a woman for what I want. And I do not need to be worrying or wondering about if "she would want me" or if I'm good enough for someone, etc., because if God wants me with someone, we belong together, and a woman who is right for me won't be looking down on me and acting like she is superior and doing me some favor by giving me a handout of attention: this is not how Christian ladies relate, by the way, I would offer . . . nor do men of God, for that matter: I must not be like this with any woman, but be loving with each one, whether I am interested in marrying her or not.
So, this is an investment, I would say: to become fully loving of any and every person, not only caring for some one favorite we want to marry (Matthew 5:46).
Well, these are some notes of my own experience of God's correction and very great encouragement. There is no telling how He will take us along, next, to even better ::smile:: And as I have gotten into loving all people, more, I have found myself sharing ever better and more beautifully with a number of different Christian people . . . better than I was hoping to have with some one fancy favorite!
