Praise the Lord Everyone,
Garlic is regarded as a miracle food by many, in fact doctors and scientists don't know what's in it that makes it so effective for treating common cold symptoms.
If you have a runny nose, earache or mucous buildup, try garlic.
I use the minced garlic, though garlic cloves work it very strong and may be too much for the senses.
A couple of table spoons at night will help a fever or even constipation.
Garlic is powerful in fighting infections.
Be Blessed! ::smile::
hi i am agree with u that it's really good herb for health .... because ginger has some anti-inflammatory nutrient values those are really helpful in healing infections .. Ginger tea is works great in cough .

You're so right about this....I'm currently eating a clove a day at dinnertime. It tastes delicious and compliments practically every food (savoury)
I was reading that the garlic must not be cut but crushed in order to release the Allicin inside it. It keeps cancer away too and it's so good for your heart.
For fighting cold and flu, try eating coarse sea salt, at least tree times a day, morning, lunch and evening. You can mix it with your food. Use the sea salt generously, and do not worry about your heart or about your blood pressure, if you drink plenty of water during the day. I will repeat it again, the more salt you eat, the more water you need to drink, in order to normalize your blood presure and to cure heart problems, if they exist.
Natural coarse sea salt stimulates the immune system, and helps all the cells in the body to function properly, and to fight infection, when consumed together with enough water.
DO NOT mix the sea salt with water, because it will dehydrate you. Eat the sea salt with your food, or put it on your tongue to disolve.
Eliminate completely any white table processed salt, because that type of salt, causes high blood presure, heart problems and other health problems.
Also, reduce of eliminate any food containing white processed table salt.
Eliminate sugar and foods with sugar, because sugar makes the immune system weaker.
CAUTION: Do not consume sea salt, without drinking enough water, especially if you have high blood pressure!
zinc lozenge's
Does normal sea salt work also? I have never seen coarse sea salt, just normal sea salt here. And thanks for the info.

I have heard this a few times before and decided to do some research on garlic as a cure for the common cold. Turns out the reviews are mixed at best.
The one main research study I found indicates that if you eat garlic daily for 3 months, there is a reduction in the frequency and severity of colds. But only one study of 146 people confirmed this, and there's nothing to suggest that it will actually cure an existing cold faster. (The study I'm referring to: [deleted per rule 3.3])
Anyway, not to rain on the garlic parade, because if it works for you then you should keep using it. Just not fully sold yet myself. ::cool::
I have not had a cold in years.......
I always had colds.
I started to take pills from a doctor that is on the radio. And when I feel one coming on, I take the pills.
and bingo, its gone.
Only thing this last few days, I have some thing ? different ? just feel cold and have chills. And the pills are
not working for this. Does any one know any thing about that ? chills ?
Thank you for any help !
There are hundreds of viruses that cause cold-like symptoms. Every time you get one, you develop and immunity to that one virus. You will continue to be susceptible to all the others as you are exposed. The fact that you have not suffered from a 'cold' in years is indicative that your immunity of working against the common viruses you have already suffered from.
There is nothing we can take that will cause a virus like that to die off except your own antibodies.
Chills means you have a fever. Take Tylenol for that.
I suspect that any good the substance you have been taking formerly was a coincidence.
Hello Offline Lively Stone ,
Those herbs really do work ! I was always catching some one cold !
Up till I started to take these herbs.
My husband and daughter in law say , I need iron ! I was taking it last year and some one told me not to
much it can hurt me.
So I forgot all about that and am going to try them again for a week or two.
Thanks....... ::smile::
placebo effect n.
A beneficial effect in a patient following a particular treatment that arises from the patient's expectations concerning the treatment rather than from the treatment itself.
It just popped into my mind, when I was younger, I had always been anemic !
When I was pregnant, the doctor had me take some really large pills .
They were what a person would call a horse pills.........
Any way today I am feeling good again. I just know its my blood ! I have been taking all kinds of stuff to help
with the heart. And I guess I need to bring that down and work on the blood.
I really want to go home ! But I am still trying to keep myself alive ! Why ? I sure do not know ?
As soon as I got saved, I thought to myself I want to go home. Since at that time I know all my family is saved.
Strange , we all got saved about the same time...............................
I know one day we will all be together one day ! ::smile:: ::noworries:: ::reading:: ::amen!::

Garlic is indeed very healthy, but do you have any solution for how to make yourself not smell like garlic all the time?
For colds and such, I'm a whiskey + honey + lemon juice guy, personally. Mostly because of my grandfather. When I was little (I want to say I was 5 or so), my parents were out of town, so I stayed with my grandparents (my dad's parents). I started getting sick during this time, and my granddad mixed something up in a small cup, poured some into a teaspoon and said, "Here, drink this." I remember it tasted horrible! I also remember getting really sleepy not too long afterward, going to bed, and waking up the next day feeling great.
When I got older I asked him what it was. Whiskey, honey, and lemon juice. Put it in a cup and nuke it for 8 seconds. Then down it and go to bed. A little dab will do ya. I actually found out there is drink made specifically for this purpose, called Rock & Rye. I bought a bottle about 4 years ago for $3. Still have a little over half of it. Anytime a cold's coming on, it knocks it right out.
**EDIT** - I realized after posting this that I should point out (lest I come across as an alcoholic or an advocate of liquor) that the concoction I mention is literally just a teaspoon, and also that the drink Rock & Rye is not made for drinking (as in like "normal" whiskey). Just wanted to share an old remedy which, come to think of it, probably won't be a new idea to a lot of people.
My mother-in-law (who is opposed to drinking alcohol) always totes the "Hot Toddy" as a great cold remedy. I have never had the heart to tell her that what she is drinking (tea or hot water with lemon and honey) is not a hot toddy and what she tells everyone she drinks is an alcoholic mixed drink. ::blushing::
Garlic may be helping me also !
I make myself a salad dressing and I use the garlic I buy in a jar, it is all cut up , so I just add it to the dressing I make. I like the garlic, I even put hunks for fresh garlic when making a roast.
I use either the whiskey/honey/lemon juice concoction or Rock & Rye. It sure can't be for the taste.

Sure... add onions. They'll overpower the garlic smell. ::noworries::
Cold & flu attacks are quite common during season change; therefore we must get attentive and take precautions to avoid cold infection. Garlic is the best ever solution to deal with cold and warm salt water; hot liquid drinks such as coffee and herbal tea.
Chicken soup -- homemade is best -- is the age old, tried and true, help in moderating cold symptoms and possibly shortening the duration of the cold.
Wash your hands and wipe down door knobs, telephones, toilets and sink handles, refrigerator handles, light switches, and anything else hands frequently touch. Viruses, unlike bacteria, do not need a moist surface to survive. Cleanliness and basic hygiene go a long way toward cold prevention.
Once you get one, a good hot shower, bed rest, chicken soup, water, tea, and, if you have a cough, the alcohol/honey/lemon mixture is excellent (in equal amounts, and it does NOT taste good!) -- about a spoonful. Good for adults and children with no side effects. If you have a child with a hyperactivity problem, make sure the alcohol you use has no artificial flavoring or coloring in it. Vodka works for that.
What are you doing this year to keep colds away ?
Besides getting those shots ?
This year is the first in a few years I am having a cold that wont go away .
I have a pill that we take when we feel a cold coming on , but this year it is not working !
I am getting over mine and my husband I think is just starting his .
For some reason not much is helping, after 3 days, I though it was leaving me, but it came back . So we are in for ?
When I was in Australia, I had a cold and bought some horseradish tablets for cold relief. I found them very good.
However I cant get them in the UK(!) so had to send off recently to get some all the way from OZ, which of course means expensive postage.
We also find allicillin capsules(allimax) very good for keeping colds away, and for shortening them. We CAN get them here thankfully.

WOW that's a lot of children. In the UK its very rare to have more than 2 or three children now, as no one can afford the appalling cost of large enough homes/cars and other living costs. So few young couples can even afford their own home. My son has one baby and they will only have one more. My older daughter only wants 2 and my nephew may stick with one because they cant afford a larger flat, theirs only has 2 bedrooms Its sad really, but that's the reality of life in the UK.
::smile::
chosenone
Well, they do have trouble. Been trying to sell the house for years now.
3 bedrooms only ! And to top that off our son tells us if we run into trouble and cant take care of our self we are welcome to come live there......................
::eek::
He said people live like this and even more !
I am sure our other children would say the same thing !
Now that I had a wake up call ! I will I pray remember to take a pill each time we go there, so I will not catch the colds again.
If you catch a cold, you can expect to be sick for one to two weeks. But that doesn't mean you have to be miserable. Here are the few remedies to get rid of cold which i use to follow these
Water, clear broth or warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. Avoid alcohol, coffee and caffeinated sodas, which can make dehydration worse.
A saltwater gargle — 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt dissolved in an 8-ounce glass of warm water — can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat.
The pills we take are 100 % Good for us and help right away when we have a feeling a cold is started ! What is nice is we just take them for that one day only !
I guess I can not tell you what the name is ? advertising ? Or can I ?
Only thing is we also have sinus and we are taking the pills because we think a cold is coming and it is only sinus !
As the day I go shopping for some reason my nose starts to leak .
my mind seems to know and its water works. As I get to the car it is just about done. Why ? This is so strange !
I am sure you can say what they are. I have found that horseradish tablets are really good for colds, but unfortunately I cant get them in the UK. I bought them when I was in OZ and found them brilliant, so now I have to buy them abroad on line.

Well praise God! That seem like the family we all were raised in back in forties and fifties. I have one daughter that has six, and the rest of my children have four apiece. The one with six, just finished her master's degree in accounting, now working on her CPA. Busy young lady, which is a good thing. The Lord be you dear sister.
