It's gross, but those that are playing around with the idea that sex before marriage is ok, think again. Of course, even after marriage if your new spouse has been about town before you two met then this still could be an issue. If you read the whole article, you'll find that this strain of gonorrhea is like the supper bug MRSA, drugs can't cure it.
What was it Bill Clinton said about oral sex not being sex? Wonder if he would have felt the same if he had gotten gonorrhea?
In May of 2009, doctors at Sydney, Australia's Prince of Wales Hospital reported two cases of failed treatment of gonorrhea of the pharynx (typically resulting from oral sex or oral-anal contact). The drug they used is called ceftriaxone, a cephalosporin given by injection. There have also been scattered reports of increasing drug resistance to the most commonly used pill form of cephalosporin, although not in the U.S. so far, said Dr. Kimberly Workowski, associate professor of medicine at Emory University and the CDC's coordinator of STD treatment guidelines. The CDC monitors the issue through its Gonorrhea Isolate Surveillance Project which receives reports from health clinics all over the country.

What a mess. :(
Uncured doesn't mean incurable... They just aren't using a medicine that works on that form of the virus.
If I tried to cure a cold with nachos, I wouldn't say it was incurable, just that nachos aren't a cure for the cold...

Just for the record, Gonorrhea is a bacterium not a virus. ::smile::

What is gonorrhea?
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Gonorrhea is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a bacterium that can grow and multiply easily in the warm, moist areas of the reproductive tract, including the cervix (opening to the womb), uterus (womb), and fallopian tubes (egg canals) in women, and in the urethra (urine canal) in women and men. The bacterium can also grow in the mouth, throat, eyes, and anus.
Doesn't change the fact that just because they haven't cured it, that they can't...

This new strain is a superbug now, like MRSA. They might be able to cure it one day, just like they might be able to cure AIDS one day. It's not as horrible as AIDS I would think, but it could kill you or make you insane from the effects when it overtakes your body so I don't think I'd wish it on anybody.
From what I understand, a lot of these "superbugs" are coming out because of all the antibiotics they are feeding the animals people eat and when people eat the animals their ability to fight off sickness is lessoned because they already have so many antibiotics in their bodies.
Simple solution would be for a person to conduct themselves in a Godly way and for people to only have sex with their husband/wife.
Yes, the two best options for mankind is to be with one person AND/OR just remain abstinent alltogether. But, we know people do not operate like that as a whole and have not for a very long time.
But I get your point - I don't mean to argue, just wanted to throw out another idea (smile). Sex is serious and I agree that oral sex is just that - sex done orally. Sad to hear there is another STD that is without a cure. It's sad that stuff like this has to spread around; but this is the world we live in and we should all make better choices in regards to our sexual health. What we do has direct consequences that can cause a lot of trouble if one is affected.
Been reading some of the posts on here. While everybody is trying to be helpful I am sure if someone has this problem they are shy about telling people or going to the doctor. We should not judge people. I have posted a link to a site on std's
www.the-clap.com (http://www.the-clap.com) that is good and has a lot of support.
hope it helps some of you
STD's are rampant but it seems that world leaders dont like to tell everyone. Dont know why, it may help people stop sleeping around.

Call me a cynic, but I wonder if there is any serious will anywhere to find a cure for long-term, chronic illness? Drug companies make billions and billions from the sale of drugs to chronically ill patients who are life-dependent on those medications. Those same drug companies lobby Governments and help to fund political campaigns.
Here in the UK, the Government makes a huge amount of tax on tobacco sales. Do they really want people to quit? Really? Do drug companies really want to find a cure for HIV or chronic STDs, when it is hugely profitable to have millions on a drug for life instead?
Yep....I'm a cynic! rofl
First off: people ARE being told about STD's and NO, it doesn't put them off. People dying of AIDS doesn't put them off.
Secondly: multiresistant bacteria ARE a problem, and sometimes the cure IS hard to find.
Thirdly: use a rubber.... if you must.
Choosing not to have sex doesn't protect you from rape, rapists don't tend to use condoms. For example.
And then, what's the point of this post?
