: Any Golfers Here? Ready for the Season?
: tennman Sat Mar 17, 2012 - 11:22:26
I've been sneaking out to hit balls for the last few weeks on the pretty days. Can't wait for the season to be in full *swing.*

So any golfers here? Optimistic about the upcoming season and maybe shooting your best score? Any new equipment you have or will be getting?

In West Texas the fairways are hard and fast so lots of roll. The "gunch" is pretty fierce with rattlesnakes and mesquite thorns and such so there is no need to fall in love with a lost ball. I haven't played much in the last couple of years. My best score back when I was playing quite a bit was 92. I talk to a lot of guys who talk about shooting in the 80's, but they never do when I play with them. That must just be part of the BS game with golf I guess. There is a tremendous number of golfers like me, but hardly anyone will admit it!  My goal from the beginning was just to "look" like I fit in and not to hurt anyone. Double bogie golf IS fitting in nicely it seems. I have actually played with a guy who straight faced admitted to me that he counts nothing higher than a 6. I told him he probably should just decide what he wants as a score and turn it in and save the wear and tear on his body.

My claim to fame was getting a 12 once on hole #9. Stopping in the club house for a snicker and coke and then proceeding to holes 10, 11 and 12 where I scored 3 consecutive birdies. Consistency is not my strong suit.

I love it when I am playing with a foursome and the score keeper asks everyone their score, and usually someone will always say, "i"ll take a bogie", which in crappy golfer vernacular that is an 8  or a snowman.
