: My Preterist Funeral
: Funguy33 Mon Jun 04, 2012 - 11:03:58

As preterists have you ever wondered what will be said at our funerals. I know it is a rather morbid thought but a thought that has crossed my mind as I get older. A typical futurist Christian funeral usually goes something like this: The dearly departed is now in heaven with the Lord.

It should puzzle other futurists to hear a preacher proclaim this in light of verses such as are found in the sixth chapter of the book of John. (NASB)

"This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. John 6:39

"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."   John 6:40

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.   John 6:44
How can the preacher say the dead are in heaven with the Lord when the futurist preacher believes the “last dayâ€

Doesn't matter, funerals are for the living. The dearly departed will never know who showed up, or whether they even had a funeral.

Ditto. But I do have an excellent verse:

"And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." Revelation 14:13

You folk do not understand scriptures. You are the children of the SaddUcees. The spirits of the righteous are with the Lord, while their bodies sleep until the resurrection day. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. To die is a gain for all believers, not so with the wicked~they go into darkness and silence until that day, when they shall be raised, to be judge and then cast into the lake of fire which is the second death.  My God is the God of the LIVING, not the God of the dead, which god is Satan. Learn your bible before trying to mock the believers who know that they have eternal life NOW abiding within them.

Yes Lord, I SEE how sad such people are, who hold to the Sadducee doctrine, of the god of the dead.
