: Hugs are Healthy
: n0mad Thu Mar 13, 2014 - 10:10:21
Did you know that hugging friends and family is a natural anti-depressant?  The dopamine released in the system during hugging is a more effective emotional booster than serotonin.

Serotonin can be boosted/regulated by exercise and sunlight.  Mood can be uplifted when you are getting enough vitamin B's and D, and regular hugs and loving will boost your dopamine.  But this is one I just learned and love.  If you sit for a few minutes everyday and concentrate on something that made you really happy.  If you think about how good it made you feel and imagine those feelings again it actually changes things in your brain and makes future happy/pleasurable events even more fun because of how you are training your brain.

"Whatever is good, whatever is lovely, think on these things."  Isn't God amazing!!! ::smile::

Hugging therapy is definitely a powerful way of healing. The nurturing touch of a hug builds trust and a sense of safety. This helps with open and honest communication.Hugs can instantly boost oxytocin levels, which heal feelings of loneliness, isolation, and anger.
