This reminds me of when I first moved from a suburban community to a rural farming community. I started attending the local Mennonite Church. I was helping in the 2 and 3 year-old class around Christmas time and the teacher showed picture of a manger to the children explaining that Mary placed Jesus on the hay in the manger. The picture clearly showed coarse yellow stalks, and one of the youngsters quickly yelled out, "That's not hay! That's straw!"
I was totally amazed that a young kid would know the difference. (I was 20+ years older than him, and I wasn't sure what the difference was.)
