: "I hope your kids do this to you, too!"

Mrs. B didn't actually say that to our oldest daughter, but she thought it.

Ginger was an athlete from an early age, a confirmed tomboy.   She had a deal that she would wear a dress at least once a week to school.   Mrs. B discovered she was packing jeans and t-shirt in her backpack, those days.

This morning, our granddaughter Kinley had an argument with Ginger.   It was PE day, and mom had laid out shorts and a t-shirt.   Kinley demanded a dress.

What goes around...

Mr and Mrs B have a daughter that liked to wear jeans and T-shirts to school and everywhere she went as she is/was a "tomboy".  Mrs. B asked that she wear a dress once a week, and thought that was being honored, but their daughter was smuggling jeans and T-shirts to change into once she was at school.

Now their daughter (G) has a daughter of her own. It was a day that G's daughter had PE so G set out appropriate PE attire (shorts and a T-shirt), but her daughter demanded a dress! ::noworries::

I, more than anyone would deserve teenage children that tried my patience, caused me great worry, stayed out late, got into trouble often.  But God blessed me with a wife that did none of these things as a teenager, thus to smite me with rotten children would be unfair to her, so I think I got off easy.  Indeed God is gracious.

I have amazing kids as well  ::clappingoverhead::...though they make me crazy, exhaust me, cry until I think I will turn to dust and blow away sometimes too. ::eek:: haha!

One thing God has seen fit to do with my kids, is make me face my biggest pet peeves and fears.

Oy.

It has been such a tremendous ride of self denial, purposed humility and face on the floor in prayer to survive kinda experience.

I was a spirit broken and bruised by parents who couldn't love me as God made me...I was just *all* wrong, mediocre when only celebrity was valued...so, when it was my turn to be the mama, my absolute *conviction* was to accept each of my precious blessings from the Lord *just* as God designed them to be, celebrating them just because they were His creations, while at the same time, bending their strong wills to His...and facing my own wounds, fears and struggles as I went.

My goodness...what a time of it we've had.  They are so gracious and kind to forgive their mama her mistakes, her overly zealous attempts to do right, her turning a blind eye thinking it was grace, and just being a mess most of the time. haha!

It will be so interesting to see them turn into parents and myself into a grandparent. ::eatingpopcorn:
