We had our appointment today, we are relieved that not only is the baby okay; but there is only one... They got us in right away but me and my son had to wait outside for awhile until they had finished. Then they copied everything to CD for us, which I really appreciate.

So heres our new baby at 9 weeks:

zoonance

Cool!   I can't quite tell if he looks more like his momma or his daddy ...

Imabear

Very cool.
So what does your son think of all this?

At first he was saying he wanted a brother and no girls allowed in the house. But yesterday he was watching a cartoon called 'Charlie & Lola' and now he says he wants a little sister named... you guessed it... Lola. He was very excited to hear we were going to see the baby, but I know he can't really understand how these pictures are of his brother or sister.

So we are keeping him involved and I think he is looking forward to the new addition to our family.

Imabear

hmmm   Lola Sloan.  I don't know, maybe too many 'lo' sounds.
She'd only have to learn how to make 5 letters to write her name, that could be an advantage.

janine

She'd already have at least one classic rock song titled with her name...

Not a very flattering song though...

janine

She can write a better one when she grows up.

How beautiful!

Thanks for sharing this Charles!

How old is your son?

Blessings, Memmy

Congratulations again, Charles.

What a blessing from the Lord... What a blessed Lord.

My little boy is 5 years old. His name is Charlie, but we call him chicharito (which means pea in Spanish).

My kids got the 4-d ultrasound of the latest grandchild.  That was fun to see -- she was a lovely little thing, floating around in there, dancing and stretching.  I think the family's favorite portion was where she appeared to be "shooting the bird" at the camera...

I can't justify, in my own mind, the expense of excessive testing on babies in utero... But if there is a sonogram needed anyway, see what you can do about the 4-D!

We have another Ultrasound coming up, in about three week and we would love to see the 4-D images. Although I'm not sure how to request it or if its only offered in certain hospitals.

When they go the 4-D did they get pictures or a video?

Length, width, height, and time -- 4 D's.

It's a movie.  An ultrasound movie.

Lord willing I'm going to call about this tomarrow and see what they can do for us.

janine

Not every place will have the capability.  And I imagine it costs quite a bit, so if your physician doesn't think it's medically necessary, and you don't happen to have the $$$ lying around to pay for it... well, let's just say it might be considered a luxury.  I figure the only reason my kids had it done was because my daughter-in-law had what would be considered a high-risk pregnancy.

It's a neat thing to have, for sure.

janine

You know -- I saw an episode within the past year or two of one of the Star Trek series -- a re-run, I'm sure -- I can't even recall for sure which series.  I wouldn't even swear I could recall the particular character -- maybe B'Elanna Torres?

Anyway, some character was pregnant and there was concern for the little one and the medical characters were looking over a 4-D of the baby. Projected, hologram-like, up in the air between them, but still, simply a 4-D.

And I remember thinking at that time "Wow, that's so neat -- and we can actually do it, now!"  The flip-open "communicators" -- cell phones!  Projected-energy weapons, sound-wave weapons -- and 4-D sonograms!

It's a Star Trek world, today.

Bon Voyage

I believe it was B'Elanna.  I hope the baby's forehead ridges come in after birth.

janine

Ouch.

Well, yeah, they get gnarlier with age.

Presumably that's how those early Klingons were so smooth-headed in the original series.  Some meant to be semi-spies were fixed up early in life so their ridges wouldn't ruffle.

I'm about 17 weeks pregnant and I've had quite a few people ask me if I'm going to get the 4-D ultrasound done. I figured it was more of a luxury, but hadn't asked anyone yet. That would be pretty awesome to have an actual video of the baby in there. I wish I could have had a video from my 11 week appt because the baby was jumping around in there and it was the most amazing thing. Oh well, I'm sure I'll see the baby moving around plenty when it comes out :-)

Are the two of you gonna ask the doctor what sex the baby is, or opt to be surprised?

We asked when my son was born, so I think we are going to do the same thing with this one. That was we can figure out an appropriate name ahead of time.

Not to mention apropriate colors and clothing. I loved doing all that.
Blessings upon you all.
I hope your wife isn't as sick.   ::pray::

I don't know if that is the kind my daughter had yesterday or not. We went to an imaging center... and we saw ALL THINGS from ALL DIRECTIONS... It was amazing. We saw all four heart valves working... the legs outstreched and curled up. Hands.... all the fingers, the brain... the lil fanny from both angles... NO DOUBT... it's a GIRL!  My first grandbaby girl!  I have four grandsons.... all under the age of 3 right now. LOL.  I have six boys and my only girl is having a girl.  They even pushed a button to show us the ambilical cord was pumping blood.

We could just watch her moving all around, she was very active yesterday... mommies blatter was very full!  ROTFLOL!

janine

Yeah, if I remember correctly, for some pregnancy ultrasounds they tell you to drink a lot and they want your bladder full.  Not sure why.  For contrast?

Arkstfan

Beautiful pics.

We didn't find out before either of our children. When our youngest was born she was the first Ferguson daughter in a 100 years. When I came out of the delivery room and made the announcement, my mother said, "Don't lie to me!" Didn't realize just how badly she wanted a grandDAUGHTER, don't think she would admit it either.

Nevertheless

Here are a couple of pics of my grandson. I don't get to hold him until July, but this early peek is nice!

This one is Mommy on the left and Grampa on the right.

For early pregnancy or just about any gyn ultrasound they want a full bladder to change the postion of the uterus so they can view it better.  Believe me, I've had more than my fair share, it's pretty uncomfortable.  The full bladder isn't necessary later in the pregnancy (although I've never had one then) or when they switch to the internal probe.  I "get" to have another ultrasound next week, but won't have to fill my bladder, because they are going to fill my uterus with saline, for contast, to see what's going on in there.  Sounds like fun, eh?

Imabear

Nevertheless, I think Granpa is gonna pop first!  I like the pic of  the foot. :)

Charles Sloan

Yesterday we visited the OB for the last ultrasound to determine what we're having...

And its a boy!

kensington

So very cool!  I would frame that foot one!  I framed the one of my grandbaby girls hand...

It's just so amazinlgly cool!  Congrats Daddy and to mommie too!  I know some good boy names... having 7 of them myself!   ::disco::

Charles Sloan

I really like the yawn, but I still need to get them printed... maybe this weekend.

One of the name I really like is Cameron, but the wife is not in agreement with me on this.

Imabear

So I guess the name Lola is off the list now.  lol
What does Charlie think?
Here is a list of Boys names my 15 year-old daughter has on her list...
Last I asked, she doesn't want kids, but she does maintain a list of potential baby names.
Go figure.

Boston, Brad, Brock, Bryant, Bryton, Caleb, Caspian (more likely middle), Daniel, Dayton, Drake, Dylan, Elijah, Emery, Jett, Joshua, Mylon, Riley, Seth, Spark (middle), Theoden.

She says that now that the movie Prince Caspian came out, she's thinking of removing that one from the list.  It ruined it for her.

Just remembered this thread, I took another look at it and thought I would bump it.  ::smile::
