Power of Angels (& Demons)

I had another nightmare I was subject to demonic attack. When I woke, I began to wonder about the power of Angels, including fallen Angels (demons).

The Bible reveals Angels do powerfully physical things to human beings. The Father of John The Baptist is made unable to speak for months due to his incredulous response to being told what is in store. 2 angels completely destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

So, this begs the question, why can't fallen angels wreak such havoc on Earth? My guess is that it is forbidden by God. NOTE: In the story of Job, Lucifer approaches God and is told he cannot physically injure Job. Anyone have Scriptural support for the limitations on demonic power?

I have no scriptural references on this direction.

But I believe that God had Job's back due to what was going on between God and Satan at that moment.

Satan was trying to make Job draw away from his adoration and faith in God. God let Satan have full access, just short of physical harm with His belief in Job's faith in Him.

God won and Satan lost.

As to demonic activity in this mortal world. I see it all around. It abounds within people who are without faith.

A basic lip service does not offset everything that is increasingly wrong with humanity and man's choices.

I do not dream of demons. Thank God. But I did have one experience I never want again when 2 somethings lowered themselves onto the foot of my bed. One on either side of my feet. I was awake and I was so scared I could not utter a word much less scream out In Jesus name be gone.... But I managed a very brief whisper of God.

The moment I said that  they arose and were gone.

No damage done but had I been a person of little faith who knows.

Several decades ago I  read often that God will not interfere with things here on earth, and the Satan has a pretty free hand.

That was many, many years ago... but I believe that God will have our backs when we really need Him...  but only those that are His....

As to fallen demons wrecking havoc on earth.

Every day there seems to be indications that could be attributed to that direction.

I am curious, and I have been for a long time, about such things.  For those who believe that demonic attacks or demonic control happens today, can you give us what the NT says that we should do about that? Nothing in there about splashing holy water or waving crosses to get rid of demons.   We read about demons in the gospels during Jesus life on earth and perhaps one or two occurrences involving the apostles, but there is no direction given us concerning such things.  I personally believe that demonic attack and control was something God permitted simply to demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit through Jesus and the apostles.  I do not believe it happens now.  All the evil committed in the world is due to individuals.  Mankind needs no direct demonic attack or control to commit the horrors we see;  he is quite up to that himself.  The influence of Satan is real enough, but that doesn't come by direct attack or control.  And for what it is worth, I believe that is, in part, the message of Job.

We are warned many times that we are in a spiritual battles against the forces of darkness. That satan is god of this world, that he prowls around looking for someone to devour.
Using Gods word, the gifts of the spirt and prayer, these are our weapons. Keeping on the right path, because if we get off track and into sin, then we leave an opening to demons to afflict us. For example, if we dabble with the occult, or watch porn or get into sexual sin for example, then we leave that opening for evil to get in.

Yes I agree, but its amazing how many Christians have done or are doing these things.
