Message to Everyone

Janine--What was initially envisioned as a church retreat turned into more of a friends and family outing due to broken bones and other circumstances.  In the end a few from church along with a few friends and neighbors and extended family members ended up occupying the cabins we had rented way back in the mountains (on the north fork of the south branch of the Potomac.  Seriously. That's what the brochure said.  I think George Washington threw a dime, a nickel, and a couple of pennies across the stream).

Mostly, we spent a couple of days exploring caves, walking down to a rushing waterfall in the pouring rain, driving across the "eastern continental divide" in fog so thick I wasn't always sure a road existed, fishing, walking by the stream, playing in the snow (we pick good times for these things), relaxing in an outside hot tub in the rain in 40 degree weather (maybe I should use that picture as my avatar).  More than anything, relaxing (we are a pretty stressed-out bunch out here in the country).  The organized spiritual content was less than we would have liked, but we did manage a decent little meeting in the largest cabin and some good fellowship.  Some of the friends-of-family have indicated they might like to come and be a part of us some.

The location was great.  There's some talk of going back for a more organized retreat next year with, hopefully, a bit more spiritual content.

I'm assembling my notes on the retreat I just returned from (trying to make them short & interesting... if possible!) & will post ASAP.  

Marc, will you tell about that bit of holeing up in the wilds you just did?

I often see something I agree with, something maybe even brilliant, one of you will post, & I don't always chime in 'cause you've already 'said it all'; rest assured, I value what you have to say.

Perhaps I'm hesitant to post 'cause I'm already such a posting hog, look at my total for God's sake... I've got blinkin' filet mignon for lunch today, and I'm such a board addict it sits there cold while I finish 'just one more'!  Aauugghh!  :0

On the other hand, I may lurk vs. posting on a particular thread because of monumental galaxy-sized boredom with the topic (y'all are safe from me on sports threads, you could hijack & talk about all sorts of interesting stuff & I'd never know!).

Or, on the third hand :D, I may not post because I totally disagree & despair of ever getting you to see my point!

Anyway... other than a couple of specific projects like my Retreat notes, I'm going back into "take a few days off from the keyboard" mode.  

Imagine... I might even wash the dishes for a change. :D

I, too, got less of a 'big bang for my buck', spiritually, than I would have liked...

But, to satify ME, I'd have to gather my churchladies, and all of our friends (and friendly foes) from this board;

Pack us all off to a luxury monastery (oxymoron? paradox?), and keep us there stewing together for at least a month.

I swore I'd be accomplishing great things away from the  #X$*>+x! keyboard this week, only typing to maintain my emails & post retreat stuff... then I realized what a chore I had ahead of me, working on some 'Net and music projects... deleting that GCM pm board... and Mike asked me to go work today in the Disaster Relief Warehouse...

I'm not getting enough done.  I need to be at least cloned triplets and we need to slow the Earth down so we can have a 36 hour day...

I may be able to be the person I want to be next week, but this week is shot . :D  :(  :angry:  :p
