Many  years  ago  ,  I  heard a  pastor  preach that  when  a  person  dies ,  his  body and  SOUL  are  a  sleep  in  the  grave ?

So  where  does  the  SOUL , SPIRIT ,  and  BODY  go  when  they  die ?

What  say  you ?

Well; if there is such a thing as soul sleep, I won't know it; here's why:

I've been under anesthesia once for appendicitis, twice for hernias, once for a scalp lump, once for a kidney stone, once for wisdom teeth, twice for total knee replacements, once for a colonoscopy, twice for endoscopy, and once for lung cancer surgery.

In none of those procedures was I aware of the passage of time. The very moment I went under was simultaneous with awakening. So if soul sleep is like that, I'll be in Heaven as if I went from here to there in less than a second of time on the clock, i.e. instantaneously. The same can be said for folks on track for the wrong side of things.

And  the   BODY  is laid  in  th  ground !

The  SPIRIT N goes  back  to  Christ  who  gave  it .

Then  where  does  the  SOUL    Go ?

As the scripture says, they go to the grave and turn to dust. They must wait the resurrection at the end.

When I was in 6th grade, my best friend's mom passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Of course, no one expected a young mother, at 34 years of age, to just fall over dead like that. My friend's grief was awful to watch - and her life spiraled out of control after that.
I still look at her mom's grave from time to time (on findagrave).
Engraved on her headstone, is "Asleep in Jesus."

Of course the body "sleeps" in the grave.  That is a euphemism for death.  As to the soul and spirit, there is a faulty assumption that our time line and that of eternity are the same.  There is scriptural evidence that they are NOT.  So to say what is happening in one time line simultaneous with another is not possible since there is no "simultaneous" between the 2.

There is the intermediate state between death and the second coming of Jesus at which time the physical realm ceases and the spiritual realm, life in heaven, begins. The intermediate state is an existence with Jesus before eternal life in heaven.  That is alluded to in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus and elsewhere. It is the intermediate state from which RCC invented its false concept of purgatory. The intermediate state is biblical truth; it is just not accurately presented by RCC's purgatory.

Yes, it is but a moment then the resurrection at the Second Coming.
