I am in the dark on Booty's situation, as well as you. Perhaps someone out there has heard from him. May he and his family be in good shape!

Booty

Hello All,

Thanks for the concern, we left on the fly as Sandi's step father went into the hospital suddenly. I took a laptop, but forgot the modem cord. Felt rather silly!

Ramon is better and stabilized now, but if he continues to ignore his dietary requirements we will be going soon to the funeral. The doctor was furious!! Ramon is an adult onset diabetes mellititus who simply refuses to accept medical wisdom and advice. He listened to some crony who told him he could eat all the rice, pasta and bread he wanted in if was unsalted and integral!! So he has been on a carbohydrate binge!! The doctor had to hit him with boluses of lasix to force his renal function to kick back in. The Lord let it happen this time, but like the doctor said, one more night and he would be put on dialysis. After his kidneys kicked back in, you could visibly see the change in his skin, eyes, colour and odour!
I bought them a small library on diabetes in spanish which at least Ramon can have fact to argue with and ignore. We had a long talk in private and I firmly told him that suicide is a sin and that is what he  is trying to do.

We just walked back in.

Bunny is very definitely pregnant!! You have never seen anything funnier than a pregnant rottweiler waddling across the yard!!

The church is in a shambles, I need to go now and find out who is declaring war on who and why.

God bless all, and I will write more later.

I'm an adult-onset diabetic, and I've seen this happen many times with people who find ways around watching the carbs.  I've seen a lot of people lose limbs or come close because they tend to push the idea that they're a diabetic to the back of their mind.

Me, I'm just fighting daily, watching the total carbs, taking my pills, trying hard to be more active (and for the winter not succeeding very well), generally doing all I can to stay away from the needle.

It's a scary thing. :lookaround:

So good to hear from you, Booty!  I was getting really worried!

I haven't seen Booty on here in a few days, nor have I seen any posts from him.

Does anyone know if he and Sandi are okay?

Is there something we need to be praying about concerning them (aside from the previously mentioned troubles in Venezuela)?

He is apparently checking his email, since if he had left the computer altogether alone all these many days, it would probably have frozen up.

Any time he's "gone" three or four days, of course the first thing that comes to mind is "Did they have to bug out?  Were they able, if it came to that?"

Y'all pray.  Any of you who have been close to him & who know how to email him, send him a "we miss you, how are you, how can we pray for you?" email, OK?

Hey, Booty!  Praise God for good news (you two are back OK, Bunny isn't exactly hopping :D, Ramon seems to have slid by).  Well, that's a relief.

Glad to hear they could jump-start his kidneys.  My Mom-in-law is diabetic also, doesn't follow her diet worth a darn either, eats anything and everything she darn well pleases, governed only by whether or not she can chew it with her insufficient teeth.  She keeps her sugar levels under fair control with a pound of pills and an insulin shot every day.

She does get some sort of infection every couple years that drives her almost into a coma, due to the insulin/sugar problem getting worse when her immunity is in trouble.  (Last time was just a few weeks ago.)  But, the daily business rolls on OK with no attention to diet.  Or in spite of no attention, rather.

Does Ramon use insulin via pills or injections?  Or is diet alone supposed to handle it?

Fill us in on the church ASAP.  {{{Praying}}} it isn't spiritual nuclear war but just a tempest in a church-pot.

You work long shifts at a desk don't you Marc?  That would be awful for Tarzan's circulation, never mind a diabetic's.  God bless your efforts to stay healthy.

I can't look down my nose at Grandma's methods, really; they have kept her here with us, with a sharp mind, and she's gonna be 83 late this year.  And I, too, mishandle food.  I "medicate" myself with foods, working to lift a mood or perk up the energy level via food.   :readytoeat:   That's why  I outweigh a battleship now.  Not good.

Anyhoo, I hope Booty finds all manageable.  {{{Praying}}} for the church near him there, the three segments.
