Does GC use a captcha to sign people up?

Another forum said they lost some wannabe members when their was not working.

No.  In the past it sent a verification e-mail with a link to click on.

That stopped working a few years ago.  The forum was set up so that an administrator has to approve each new sign-up.  Except our admin stopped showing up, so nobody's getting approved.

Fortunately for the spam-bots, a lot of them signed up between 2017-2021 when there were no controls on sign-up.

Have a look at all of the new members just in 2025, they are all spam bots and as far as I can tell, they can bypass the activation process and post at will. 

We are just dealing with the ones from 5 years ago, it looks as though they can spam the forum faster than we can ban them and delete their posts. 

Should we give up?

Not necessarily give up.

But if there was a way to contact the regular users here, or those who  were regularly posting before GC went down for its long vacation....
say by email....

Then what of starting a new forum under a new names such as Grace.Centered or Grace Centered Magazine Apologetics and see now long it would take them to catch up.

Just an idea.

Or just leave them along... but it is so annoying they can delete
the subject matters that are new at will.

But... since there are only the same handful or two posting now maybe just let it run as it wants to
