Sadly, I am looking forward to this movie.  I think it will be hilarious.

There is certainly plenty of ammunition to use for satire!

Petals

It probably will be funny, but bordering on the blasphemous.  I'm still laughing, but waiting for a lightning strike, after reading that cartoon, "Have a good Friday, Jesus!"   ::tiptoe::

I agree,  ::nodding:: they do have plenty of ammunition for satire.

I've been to the Easter extravaganza at the Crystal Cathedral, so am curious as to what they're going to say about that.  I thought it was beautiful and very well done.

I think this will give the unsaved more reasons not to get saved.

James Rondon

Blasphemy should never make us laugh.

I wonder. Would the "elect" be saved even if they produced this film?

I wonder how many still convert to judaism despite all the jew jokes etc over the centuries.   Goofy is goofy.  They are responsible for the ammunition, you and I shouldn't be anyway.  As far as blasphemy is concerned, if a different Jesus is spoofed, is it really blasphemy?  Just curious.  The fact that the unsaved would not know or recognize the difference doesn't seem to affect Salt Lake City much?

Big Mike Lewis

Nah.  This will just give us more opportunities to share the truth.  That these folks they are satirizing are funny and don't represent Christianity.

Only if you believe in utter depravity.

marc

Haven't watched it.  Won't.  But what I can't stand is when Christians continually give people reason to laugh at them and not take them seriously not by holding up the cross of Christ but by perpetrating utter nonsense.

James Rondon

Agreed... But not everyone who says, "Lord, Lord" will enter into the kingdom of Heaven.

Benny Hinn says something about he wishes he had a "holy ghost machine gun" ...lol wow..how to people follow these loony televangilists

So, like, are the filmmakers blasphemous because they poke fun at the Benny Hinns and the Big Hair Ladies of televangelism?  Or are the Benny Hinns and the "miracle chicken" Big Hair Ladies blasphemous?

James Rondon

Did you watch the whole video? The Benny Hinn's were not the only one's "poked fun at".

Charles Sloan

The gentleman in the video 'Ole Anthony' had this to say on his website (http://www.trinityfi.org/):

"But God has allowed them [the televangelists] to come to prominence so the church can see the reflection of itself in them, and repent."

He says in this video:

"But God has allowed the televangelists like Robert Tilton and Benny Hinn and all the others... Copelands, so that we can see ourselves without the cross."

Now if this was the entire message of the video, to expose frauds and the misrepresentations of Christianity in order to better reach the lost, and give a correct reperesntation of Jesus Christ and Christianity; I would see this movie as a great oppertunity.

But I don't believe this will be the aim of the flim.
