My son's dream came true. He ran the Boston Marathon

I hope you don't mind me sharing something wonderful about my son.  He ran the Boston Marathon - his dream - in 2:59:08 on Monday.  Considering he was recently diagnosed Type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetic his accomplishment was wonderful and I am so honored to be his dad.

In fact, Andy was profiled in the media recently (FoxNews, front page story in the Baltimore Sun Sports page and by a local newspaper, Towson Times, a copy of which I'm attaching).

Thanks for allowing a very pleased dad to gush a bit over his son.

From what I heard, the weather was going to make that an especially hard marathon to run. That's a fantastic accomplishment!

Thanks guys.  Yes, the weather did make it difficult although the conditions weren't as bad as once feared.  It rained and the runners had a headwind of up to 30 mph to deal with.  The winning times were the slowest in over 20 years. 

As a footnote, not only does Andy have the diabetes obstacle to clear, he also suffers from sports induced asthma.  So, he gives himself insulin injections and needs an inhaler prior to the race.  He's my hero.

Your son is awesome, and God is awesome for allowing him to over come his physical limitations.  My dream is to run in the Boston Marathon, and the story about your son has become a new inspiration for me to achieve my own running goal.

I am in awe of your son being able to run for that amount of time. I was a sprinter--not a distance guy. The longest distance I could be competitive with was 3 miles.
