This one may be rhetorical.

Bon Voyage

All Yankee Super Bowl!

mike

I have been wrong on football posts the last couple of times. But for this one, I have to say, "Duh."

marc

I pretty much missed the regular NFL season this year because of my studies, only emerging for the playoffs, so I haven't been following things very well.  Saturday, I was watching a little of the East/West Shrine game and saw Bernie Morris, the fairly awful quarterback for the school I just got my M.A. from (Marshall), and was wondering whatever happened to that talented but poorly-used running back they had the last couple of years, Ahmad Bradshaw.

Last night, I got home in the fourth quarter of the NFC championship, and there he was.

So at least the Super Bowl will match up teams with players from a school where I earned a degree.  The Giants have Bradshaw; the Patriots have some Moss guy (also, is Troy Brown still around--he's a Marshall guy, too).

Patriots will win due mainly to Wes Welker, a Texas Tech graduate, who will have 10 plus receptions in the game for over 150 yards and probably at least two TD's.

Wow! How about those Giants!

Bon Voyage

Aaron Stampler/"Roy" wins the MVP!!

Mere Nick

Now we see why they play 'em.

marc

I think that catch during the Giants' last drive was the most amazing play I've ever seen in a Super Bowl.  Great game.

Jaime

It was refreshing to see that  Brady is human! The Giants defense dealt him fits.

Awesome win!  I couldn't believe they could pull it out that late in the game!  :thewave:

Feel sorry for the Patriots to come so close to a perfect season and have it end that way at the very end.  Both teams worked hard to give fans a good game!  ::clappingoverhead::

What's with the Patriots' coach leaving early?  Whatever happened to "the captain goes down with the ship."  That was pretty low in my book (but I'm the kind of guy that thinks people who leave early to beat traffic are only pseudo-fans...real fans stay).

Gutsy plays in the Giants' last drive that put them ahead... especially, the one where Eli somehow escaped a sack to make a very unlikely pass.  Great game!

1 second early?  Come on James.

Jimbob

It wasn't just one second on the board, it was several minutes in real time, and it was to avoid the cameras/questions that he left his team out there to answer.  The captain goes down with the ship, he doesn't nudge the crew out of the way as he takes the lifeboat and preserver.

I'm not judging the man as a whole, but that particular action is a bit wimpy.

BaLou

Great defenses wins Superbowls as they say. The Giants D definitely out played the Patriots. Was I the only one that voted that the Giants would win?  ::thankyouthankyou::

You're right.  I've never left a baseball game or a professional rasslin' match early.  Belechek left with one second left and bunches of folks were already spilling onto the field for postgame.  It isn't as bad as it was made to look.

This superbowl was the most watched game ever, and the second most watch broadcast in American history:

Monday was a holiday here, the entire base was off so we could watch the game live.   ::americanflag::

Yes, it was amazing. Last night on ESPN, they kept replaying that play. It was definitely the play of the game. Here it is:

I was at work, so missed much of the game.  I did see bits and pieces, like that amazing play.  I missed the very end of the game, because some patient wanted something.... The nerve of patients to call for something during the superbowl.  (just kidding)  Actually it ws nice to be able to se as much of the game as I did.

Dennis

The coach's early departure was not a particularly big deal, but it was certainly low class.

Dave...

The game was fixed. It was as obvious as the Steelers super bowl. Who was the clock operator in the final 1:22? Or was it the final 1:19? Or was it the final 1:28?

When the Giants were on their final drive, they got about two or three free time outs. I watched their offensive linemen holding as clear as day. To the point of grabbing a defensive lineman from behind and throwing him to the ground. It was never called.

When NE had the ball on their final drive, there were at least two, maybe three times when the clock stopped at the end of the play, and then after a three second delay, it started again and ran off another two to three seconds before stopping again. It was so obvious.

The game was fixed so Eli and NY could have their token SB. That's all. The proof is on tape, if you recorded the game. it's undeniable. The fact that I didn't hear one media person say anything about the clock management speaks louder than anything.

I'm not even a NE fan. I could care less if they won or not. But I do hate watching a game that I know is fixed.

Don't you mean that it was predestined?
