Deleted or Edited Posts

I put this thread in this forum for obvious reasons. Most of us who have had a post edited or deleted use this forum.

Question...

Should the writer of a post be notified by PM when a post of theirs is deleted or edited by a moderator (the PM also supplying a copy of what was deleted or edited out)?

It really bothers me when I spend a lot of time on a post, and want to reference it, only to find out later that it no longer exists. I'm sure that I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Also, for the Mod's, do these deleted or edited post remain in our posting history in our profiles as originally written?
